3D LED art from eBay

This is a common item on eBay as either the full thing oir as just the base for your own laser cut and etched designs.

Circuitry is fairly standard, but was a bit harder to trace through because of the white solder resist and fairly dense clusters of tracks in areas.

A laser would definitely be nice.

Have you considered buying one of those K40 laser engraver/cutters Clive? They're great fun, easily hacked and upgraded, and produce nice cases in wood or acrylic very quickly.

just a thort have you ever tried to read the dater of the chip ?

Mort

that would not look out of place in the film tron the first one :)

I think they'd probably need to have a full set of programming contact points for that. I think they were just keeping their options open with that spare pad, as it costs nothing to add it to a design.

also seen on alliexpress

Could the spare pin / pad be the programming port?

Perhaps a fairly text design but still a great exploration and thank you for it sir! Great stuff man

There's inconsistencies in the artwork (grid spacing) that would bug me no end if I had one.

I did notice that the unit changes colour after you have taken your finger off the button. That will be down to the software reading of the button to avoid multiple reads.

https://i.imgur.com/zECdPPx.jpg I have two of these (and the LED clock I found thanks to your video ☺️). The bases are actually very different. The left (pink) one seems to delay in its colour change after you tap the base, although the right (blue) one works exactly the same as the video. I wonder if the circuitry is different for the pink one!
