As the thumbnail already alludes, the UVC LEDs aren't quite what they seem.

It does work as an air cooler/humidifier though, and would make a good base for fan based projects.
I do wet the pads and freeze them to improve it works well

I have one that looks the same but it has multi coloured led and does not pretend to have uvc. Great just to drop a couple of degrees to get to sleep at night just fan is a bit noisy so on the lookout for a new fan. My one the atomising stops after a time not sure about 45 minutes wish could set the time so that maybe another mod.
OK just been in loft seen my box and it says Uv protection I just laughed. Also mine has the sponge impregnated with silver!!

This would work well in Arizona. My parents have two swamp coolers that work fine. They also have a conventional A/C that they only use every once in a while when the humidity is high.

try wetting the filters and placing them in an ice box. When frozen replace them in unit and turn it on.

There are many fakes which don't even incorporate the atomizer and which cost twice the price! Now that I've learnt what was missing from mine. Bah!

I think the UVC LED's capable of actually sterilizing anything are hard to get and very expensive. More traditional UVC germicidal lamps or ozone generators (of course!) are more likely to be a good option. Clive did a video a while ago about an ozone generator module that BMW uses in their cars for this purpose.

Hi Clive... The missus bought one of these a couple of weeks ago (minus the "UVC" LEDs) She keeps it next to her side of the bed and it does a pretty good job of keeping her cool. When she gets tired of it I'll disconnect the atomiser, put a couple of sheets of kitchen towel across the wicks and re-purpose it as a solder fume extractor.

Hi Clive but I would like to know if anyone makes a small box that has some sort of UVC light source in that works. You may have already made a video on the subject.
I know that most things are snake oil and donβt really emit UVC.
Because I live in London, I have been buying facemarks at Β£6.00 each. They say disposable. Not at that price. I'm a pensioner so I hate wasting money.

I avoid that by turning the A/C compressor off a minute or two before I arrive where I'm going so the coils have a chance to warm up and dry before shutting off the car.
Now if I could just get the kids to do that when they drive...

Wish more manufacturers would use real UVC LEDS for sterilizing. Got a problem with my car ac coil right now because of humidity and organics growing on it. Some UVC LEDS inside that run occasionally would probably kill it off automatically without having to spray cleaner into it.
