Poundland solar uplight

Is this video a bit "lacklustre"?  Although this is a fairly smart design, I couldn't muster as much enthusiasm as usual, as it lacks significant hackability.

Although it's commendable that the critical circuitry is all potted under resin, it kinda limits its hackability for changing LED colours or the inductor value.

Enthusiasm is so, so over-rated.

Thanks. I was going to re-record it and try and be more enthusiastic, but there's not a huge amount to explore due to it all being under resin.

Big Clive

I didn't find it lacklustre. I thought it was nice and calming. I enjoyed it :-) I'm new here btw 👋 Hello.

Clear and straightforward. A fine example of the KISS principle. Not even any caps!

The video was just fine, but did lack a little excitement. Maybe the object was just so ordinary. Maybe you were a wee tad tired. Maybe you forgot to stop by the cafe?

No don’t think it’s lacklustre at all! Always find the small solar stuff a good watch. It is a shame it’s not very hackable but still very interesting

Clive, what were you going to show us? You hinted at something then just didn’t return to it.

Adam Pepper

I often use a heat gun. I think the hot water technique only works with some resins.

Big Clive

I see what you mean about not having enthusiasm, but that's OK. Not every video can be Fanny Flambeaux.

Michael Dunn

I guess the design is too simple to get excited about. These lamps are now so minimalist that you don't get to see anything new or to have to dig around to see how they work. It is what it is.

If it is not hackable it's either designed *very* well to do what it is supposed to do or *very* bad and it is a hackjob already ;)

Tim Albers

"lacklustre" no not really. You sound great. Did you get enough rest and something to eat? Something REAL to eat? We love you and the ones don't F-off. I've all loved lamps the the best.

Michael Thompson

Did you try depotting by boiling in water? Heard someone a while ago claiming that it turns that resin in goo.
