Another lamp another branding

This almost feels like the usual script.  There's one company banging these lamps out with a wide range of brands printed on them.

Slightly harder to do the dooby hack due to just using a single resistor.

I've had a similar result with glass lamps. This very common type is notable for being super-lightweight with a globe that flexes with very light pressure.

I tried this yesterday but it turned out to be a disaster. I thought the dome was plastic but discovered it was actually glass after it shattered into hundreds of tiny pieces and left me with cuts on one hand. Ah well, we learn by our mistakes. The second attempt to reduce a Tesco 6W lamp to 1W worked fine, Oddly though, it had 5 LEDs in series with 5x4.7K resistors in parallel. Why not just fit another LED and improve the output?

I do have a couple of light meters. But not a good setup for averaging the light.

I made a video about my board photography technique. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L6sAS-y21xA The printer I use is an Epson ecotank with bulk ink tanks and generic glossy paper.

Hi Clive, do you have a lux meter to compare the light output compared against the pre-modded state?

I know that it's probably not something you'd want to show, but even if it was only a Patreon exclusive I'd love to see a "behind the scenes" of what happens when you say "one moment please" - how you photograph the boards, what you use to edit and print the photos, that kind of thing.

why? resistors are cheap as chips.

I found out ,to my cost about Polaroid, when I bought an alarm clock from Asda. when I had a problem with it, Asda nor Polaroid could help as it was "just a licenced product" lesson learned the expensive way!!

Why not just solder in a little potentiometer?

Sadly Kodak (Poundland) is another brand along with Polaroid (Asda) that has been licensed to have their once trusted name put on any product from China. Hitachi and Qualcast (Argos) are two others. People think they’re buying products made by these brands but they’re not. It’s so wrong. I really don’t understand how this deception is allowed under UK Consumer Law.
