Ultra-fast print battery connectors

There are lots of designs on Thingiverse for making connectors for various power tool batteries.  But I reckon these ones for Ryobi and Parkside print the fastest.  There's no latch, but they should be a good snug fit.

Kewl! Thanks Big Clive.

Very true, and made me think about the bubblegum style batteries too

You'll be producing your own proprietary batt system before long for all your gadgets, and we'll all have to buy into it! Only kidding - you're actually doing exactly the opposite. Congrats.

You can print separate glue ports and then weld the plastic pieces together (acitone works for ABS but I think you need something like [brake]* cleaner for PLA) * 8 hours later I suddenly remembered I wrote break instead of brake - how oddly specific.

This got me thinking about adaptors for Sony NP-F style batteries (AKA 'L-Series'). Chinese clone NP-F format batteries and chargers can be sourced quite cheaply and come in several sizes. They are small enough to be included in portable lighting or audio projects. Adaptor plates are available but they are horribly expensive. Seems like a good candidate for 3D print.

The Ryobi could be a 2 part moulding, with a cap glued on to support the crimp connectors ?

John Harrison

How about a little trough with an open bottom that sits over the connectors for the Ryobi version? You could then position it over the crimp connectors and fill with hot melt glue.

When I saw you using a file to make the battery connector fit it reminded me of when I worked in a school. Sometimes the pupils would be making a project and when they wanted something to fit, they used the process of "File & Error" Sorry Clive not relevant to your video but just an amusing story.

Quick note: the colour of the crimp is determined by the size of the wire not by the current rating. From smallest to largest and best fit sizes - red (1-1.5mm),blue(2.5mm),yellow(4-6mm), after this your in the uninsulated territory.
