Inside a cheap clip-on ring light

Argos sells one that looks the same but rechargeable for £8. I will try to liberate from the kids to have a look inside. They are already wise to things lent to me it will come taken apart!

I have that exact model, it was pulled to bits and serves as the "ring light" light on a digital magnifier for a relative who has very poor sight.

The tool is marketed under the name iSesamo. The Italian word for sesame (plant/seed) is sesamo (sésamo in Spanish). Yes it's an allusion to 'open sesame' which is a translation of the original French "sésame, ouvre-toi" from Antoine Galland's Les Mille et une nuits.

I tried it in the beginning before evolving to a much wider diffused ring. These produce too much glare and reflection in shiny objects at close range.

It certainly looks more basic than the same thing you did in 2018. The old one had way more chips and the PCB was actually screwed down. What is the diameter of the LED ring PCB? It could be replaced with a COB halo. https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005003033280435.html
