Poundland floating Harry Potter candles

I recorded this just before coming over to Glasgow.

It's a decent effect.  I think it may be a rebadged Premier product.

Wait... never mind i was blind there

The chip with the marking C33H could actually be the MCP1640 ic which is basicly a synchronous boost regulator ic with a startup voltage of 0.65V. The output voltage can be adjusted from 2.0V to 5.5V. I found this as the first result from an ad google did when i searched c33h ic

What wording were you using in the comment?

Big Clive

@BigClive: somehow I can't comment on the video itself anymore; maybe you've set the filters too strict?

They look good, especially if you have kids (which I don't)

Nice cameo.... it was like Daniel Radcliffe and Robbie Coltrane were ACTUALLY in the room. 🪄

Amazon have the "premier" brand version, sold in packs of 10 without the batteries but with a remote control. Tempted! :)

Those are mighty beautiful candles. Looks like a very nice Christmas pressie for my sister in law. Maybe even 3D printable with a Joule Thief as power supply. (Flor flickering LEDs add appropriate smoothing)

They look like asparagus sextoys.....

C33H sounds like C3PO's cousin.

I think in a darkened room, if you hadn't seen these before, they would give a great floating illusion.

Very nice, although a tad expensive compared to the 2 battery Remote Control ones. Though you'd have to pay £8 for a tiny chocolate frog at the Harry Potter Studio Tour in London.

Andrew Donaldson

neat.

Efault

Nice. Thanks Big Clive. Those are kind of kewl.

Dave Frederick

Those are pretty spiffy.
