New PCBs (not a video yet)

Two orders arriving at once from JLCPCB (not a sponsor) with my first attempt at vee-cut panelisation.

The PCBs on the right cost a fraction of the PCBs on the left which incurred a significant processing charge due to their size.

But how much did shipping cost you tho?

hope you make a video of the whole process, i think some people may find it interesting

JLCPCB appear to be on form at the moment. An order I placed yesterday morning at 10:30 was shipped today at 07:24. Like Clive says - I'm not sponsored or promoting them - just a satisfied customer that hopes that their $2 for 5 boards may continue.

No, it's the board size. If you go over 100x100mm it gets more expensive.

Just found this: https://support.jlcpcb.com/article/49-pcb-panelization

How about another vid along the lines of your recent multimeter one, but looking at ordering PCBs instead? Basic options, file prepping software, how to avoid expensive options, what good and bad PCBs look like so we know when to complain, etc. It's something I've often thought of but not dipped into yet, and I just had to goggle 'vee-cut panelisation' - though Goggle insists it has a zee in it as well as the vee. To my shame, that seems to be an extremely beginner-level know-how. Oh well. Guilty as charged!

What cha making? I love the super comptrs I have everal on my bench thank you again

20mm is the minimum for V groove to avoid an engineering charge, for sizes below 20mm panel by Stamp Hole ( mouse bites ). EasyEDA has the Both the Stamp Hole and V groove options, Stamp Hole often creates an impossible panel that JLC will fix and email you for aproval :) JLCPCB will email you about the engineering charge for aproval if you go below 20mm.

Someones going to be busy :)

Is this because through hole verses surface mount. good to get experience with surface mount but if they are for beginner's then I say through hole and cheep, less hit to the pocket.

JLCPCB is absolutely awesome so long as you keep in the "optimized" configuration (1 or 2 layer, individual board, 100x100mm size, 5-10 pcs, 1oz, etc...). I use them almost exclusively. Up to 4 layer boards I don't think there's anyone that can beat them for the price x time. The SMT assembly service is also pretty darn nice.

I like the expensive ones
