Unusual eBay find

Not a video (yet).  I'd rather have the whole machine, but I think the shipping could be quite awkward.  Especially to an island.

Unusual eBay find

Comments

Has it started yet :)

It’s fascinating to look at it. Like it’s from a far time ago. Nicely old-school. I’d like to have a closer look if you mind and think it’s worth it.

Elim Garak

I'd turn it into the Ultimate Simon game.

AlfaGuy

Actually you COULD make a very unusual 24h clock, the minute hand would just rotate once an hour as usual but THE BALL IS THE HOUR HAND (on a clear perspex arm), @ top of the hour the ball & the cross thing in the middle whizz around 3 or 4 times with the led’s following it around & then slow down & stops @ the next hour and so on, controlled by stepper motors and a micro it would just never use the 25 th segment. What u think ?…….

What a pity it’s 25 segments you could have made it into a 24 hour clock :)

It's a vacuum formed disk with a graphic on the back. For the era it's in very good condition.

Big Clive

The old ones had solenoid locks to drop all the coins at the start of each play.

Big Clive

It has a long bearing shaft down to a large wheel with toothed belt to a stepper motor.

Big Clive

NEAT ! Does it have the bowl / lower bearing.. some areodynamics in that I think. OK..with all the collections Pachinko, Roullet, Coin Vending (one arm bandits?) pinball and arcade.. will there be a gambling area in a corner of the new shop ? :) jk

Liked the loud 'thwack' sound these made when they began a spin.

Andrew Donaldson

Is the coloured disc made of metal? And is that the original ball? I'd be thinking it would wear quickly, maybe a plastic ball if you want it to spin regularly?

Rob Googe

Very interesting piece indeed

Same type of colour based system.

Big Clive

Is that a 2p horse racing game thingy that they used to have in the arcades or something along those lines

I should mention that this unit does have the motor and two sensors used for launching and detecting the ball.

Big Clive

Very interested to see how that works

electronbox

Perhaps if it is to be a wall decoration, it could be made into a clock🤔

TopEndSpoonie

Roulette wheel out of a Whittaker's roulette machine.

Big Clive

Wall decoration had come to mind, with a microcontroller to rotate it. (Stepper motor based.)

Big Clive

The full thing would.

Big Clive

Infrared slotted position sensor for an index flag and an inductive sensor.

Big Clive

I can see this becoming a wall decoration with special Clive fitted flashing LEDS - maybe

Does it have an electro-magnet mounted underneath?

Mark Trombley

Live-streamed roulette maybe?

Does this qualify as "big boys toys" :)

Gerry BVR

What the heck is it?

Todd Sharp

Certainly interesting!
