The proper wireless LED video

There have been a few videos about these things from other YouTubers, but they lacked technical information.

So here it is.  The schematic and oscilloscope waveforms.

Plus gross abuse by putting over 100 LEDs in the coil.

You always have something new and interesting to show us!

I bought the same item on Nov 30 2021 and it was 8.65 EUR (including Finnish VAT) back then. Now it shows 8.66 EUR. Huge price inflation!

So we can all compare and check for price fluctuations, I paid $9.33 US from Clive's link here: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4001225212166.html

Thanks, Clive. A very enjoyable video! If my maths is correct the LED tanks are tuned to 187kHz, and the transmitter's to 225kHz. That's believable - and your scope trace confirms. The LED tank is significantly damped by the LED and never really gets going, so why bother with it at all? Your demo showed it smoothing the on/off threshold, which looks better when used with a pulsing Qi charger.

I've seen Qi charging units used in model railway buildings where the creator wants to be be able to swap buildings out quickly. The layout base has Qi chargers sunk into the surface and the building a receiver and wired LEDs internally. Works well as you don't have to worry about the distance of the individual LED from the transmitter.

These will be so good for scifi model building.

Brendan Perkins

Sorry to correct you in public Clive, but gross abuse would be 144 LEDs at the same time.

Jeremy Impson

Can't say I have ever imagined wireless LEDs would exist, we really are in what people from the past would consider to be the future.

I'm wondering if you could tune it to 3.39MHz so you could use it to make these glowing Implants from Dangerous things light up (they are for 13.56MHz but lower harmonics seem to work too)

Leon Schutte

If you drop one on the carpet you can find it easily if you use the coil to light it up.

Mark Trombley

I've just bought a wireless charger so I can play at the weekend
