Deja-vu - but weird circuitry twist
Added 2022-10-03 03:16:02 +0000 UTCI've featured lights like this before, but they all seem to have their own little twist on the circuitry. I wonder if they originate from the same factory or if they have just become so popular that they are widely copied.
This one's circuitry twist had me puzzling for a while. It's clever and weird simultaneously.

I subsequently hacked this light to put a 1 ohm resistor in series with each of the LEDs to bring the power consumption and heat down.

Search for "5COB Working Lamp W856" or https://www.aliexpress.us/item/3256803609349332.html. I found that one on the packaging of the 4 COB (W855) version I received. Bonus detachable solar charger in every package.

The same seems true in complete products. I wonder what the overall ethos is - uncontrolled and fairly accurate copying, distribution .. I don't know.

2022-10-03 07:18:29 +0000 UTCActually, the graphic is made up of at least 2 Chinese characters, which I assume give the name of the circuit board manufacturer, or maybe the Core company's Chinese electronics producer. I can't read Chinese, so I can't say more than that. But, it does look like it's upside-down in the video.

They look really great and since our phones are practically microscopes these days, I'd love to be able to print out various things like that.

I'm still trying to get up the nerve to swap out the little guy for the USB charging board to drop it from 1 amp to half or less. So very tiny.
