Blast from the past

Revisiting some very early mains-powered LED arrays I built when gallium nitride LEDs first became affordable.

I think this project deserves a revisit, as it turns out that simple linear current regulation was the right way to go.

Ah the good old days when it was just Clive before he got Big. Nice projects, for a Q&A chat. As always brightened my day

I love these types of reviews of old projects by people who did them in the past. I myself recently revisited a fridge door alarm I made around 2010. I was pleasantly surprised it still worked after I replaced the corroded power switch. If done again, I would do them differently these days for sure! Still, not bad since it lasted 2 years in service and 10 years in a damp shed and is now back in service.

Beautiful PCB traces, Clive!

Like for a revisit

Let’s build a couple Clive, etched pcb and all.

Now those ARE a bright idea - you certainly led the way back then, Clive. IIRC I was messing at that time with those 12" 12v fluoro tubes you could get for PC cases, and where are they all now?
