Aldi sold a similar one 2 years back that was in a plastic (GRP) base. With those lenses, pop a screw in the holes and pull them out like a lid. Pity about the stupid choice of values. Makes me think they drove the current to the absolute bleeding edge and used the internal thermal regulation only to regulate.

2022-05-25 10:36:29 +0000 UTCYou can roughly get the proportions of the energy consumption by dividing the "before" resistor value of 37.5Ω with the "after" resistor value, in this case 39Ω. So if the energy consumption before was bout 5.5W, it will now be roughly 5.5W * 37.5Ω / 39Ω = 5.3W. So a pretty small change. Other components do affect the actual result as well, as can be seen with the 1kΩ case shown in the video; raw calculation would suggest 5.5W * 37.5Ω / 1000Ω = 0.21W when we can see the actual consumption was 0.33W.
