Due to the spiralling costs of fuel and materials, the owners of the Isle of Man's main bakery decided to cut their losses and close it.

I never realised the scale of machinery they had. The closure will have knock-on effects on other companies, notably the local flour mill. It was also a significant local employer.
The Island's government, which is notable for squandering massive amounts of money on employing "consultants" of dubious merit, failed to take any decisive action while one of it's main (real) businesses closed down, with loss of jobs and also a significant loss of independent food supply.
When it was announced that it was closing the venomous Karen's crawled out the woodwork to announce that they were glad it was closing because they didn't like the texture/flavour/style of the bread products. Those same Karen's are now complaining that the imported bread also does not meet their impossible expectations.
There's a certain irony that their precious up-market Marks & Spencers loaves of bread which were apparently much superior to the island-made stuff..... Were also made here.
