Inside LIDL's rechargeable work light

While functional, this unit has some squirmy things about the design.

Given the choice between the LIDL and Aldi version, I'd choose the Aldi one.

A question very few ask, but many may wish to know the answer to: What do you use to keep your hands so young-looking?

Simon York

They tend to appear at random times. They never seem to have a specific item in stock all the time.

Went to both ALDI and LIDL today looking for these. Didn't find any. Surprised anyone can find things in the middle aisle there!

After your review of the Aldi one, I went and bought one to use in my shed (My Workshop!!! lol) and I was not disappointed- it is excellent. I also bought at the same time, their hand held cob worklight, that came with 3 aaa bats, and was reduced to just £3.99 from I think either £5.99 or £6.99, whatever it also is an amazingly useful lamp. Your reviews and teardowns are proving invaluable for me in deciding if a product is worth it. Thanks BC you're worth every penny of my meagre patreon donation- If i was working I would be in the top tier without hesitation.

Double check it's the same chip you're looking at - there appear to be two chips with the same number. On this chip pin 7 sets the lithium cell charge voltage. 4.2V if tied to zero volts and 4.35V is left floating.

Thanks Clive for introducing me to ICs I wouldn't normally encounter. Aware there's often a massive price differential, I'm trying to improve my knowledge. So I went looking for the SP4533 and found only a Chinese datasheet. But there was English data for the SP4533S which has pin 7 == Enable, floating high. Would it be naughty to ask you post your high resolution photos so we can have a closer look? TIA.

Whenever I disassemble anything, I ask for Saint Clive to watch over me.

Julian's (March 2021) looks like an earlier version - externally similar, but the pcb has differences. Interesting to see they've added 'IP44' on BC's version.

Clive just want to say how much Happiness and enjoyment your videos/livestreams give me , especially through difficult periods, Thank you :)

Harris Chalk

isn't this the one Julian was quite impressed with?
