First video from the crew accommodation

Setting up a recording area in my crew room was very tricky.  I've improvised by stacking random bits of furniture, adding a recording surface designed to avoid reflections and used a twin pack of pillows as improvised sound reflection damping.

This is a start, but I need to use colder white lighting and nudge the white balance a bit for more natural colours.

I've made a mobile macro lighting unit for PCB closeups and once we have the bulk of the work on the load in of the show done (Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo) I'll be setting up a new printer just for the usual PCB pictures.

Fingers crossed the YouTube algorithm doesn’t pock up the “stabbing people’ comment. Maybe bleep it out for YouTube upload so you get some revenue. Very interesting find.

I'll try to get some video from work, but at the moment it's pandemonium. Massively higher amounts of work in the same time frame.

Yay, tattoo! And cheap tat! Only thing missing is the cheap booze. ;) Do you think you’ll be able to sneak in a few videos of your ‘day job’, building and testing the rig, poking at big fancy lights, and maybe looking over the LD’s shoulder during programming n such, and I know it’s not as much your department but the audio side of the job is also interesting as hell!

I use an Epson ecotank. Even lighting when taking the pictures is important.

Well, I had to go and buy some of these before everyone else who sees this clears out their stock. They even had some old boxes on the shelf, revealing that they used to be £5 each.

Glad to hear you're back at the Tattoo!! ;-)) Can I ask about the printer you (normally) use the the PCB prints? They look so clear and bright...

Hmmmm. They look good. Have to pop round the corner to Poundland before they sell out.

Yeah, it made me think of the SIRDS (Single Image Random Dot Stereograms) too.

The background sorta reminds me of those pictures you had to stare at just the right way to get your brain to "see" the picture.

Peter Stevens

(I'm actually quite liking the background. It has a very 3D feel to it.)
