New and exotic Chinese factory tool

I've seen these being used in small lamp factories in China where they assemble the lamps manually.

It's a specialist crimping tool that uses ten spikes to crimp the metal cap onto the plastic lamp bases.

Needless to say there will be custom lamp making videos now.

I've included a link to the seller in the YouTube description.  They have lots of interesting stuff including lamp kits.

I know selling the electrics kits aren’t a viable business in this day and age, but I would pay good money for a hand made Big Clive lamp.

so nice to see the methods of production. Super simple brute force.

Joel Murphy

The crimper uses surprising force to push the points through the steel.

Oh I've so gotta get one of them

Nice device. Did you try with an Egg cutter ? Apart from the size, it may work.... https://www.amazon.com/Stainless-Eggshell-Scissors-Cutter-Egg-Advanced/dp/B085VMC6JM

Big Clive's lamp base crimping service?

Looking at that tool, it looks like it is Cad plated. It is very expensive to get Cad plating in the US because the process is very toxic. A lot of automotive parts during the 70's era were Cad plated for corrosion prevention.

Mount it in the WC and crimp away while doing other business... 😄

Stephen Eyles

It actually took a while to arrive. Possibly because of sitting in customs for a random time..

Did anyone else find themselves doing Alan Partridge impressions of the word "SPIIIIKKKESSS" whenever Clive mentioned them?

Fantastic use of cams! One of the oldest tricks in the book - 600 BC apparently.

Super Cool toy Big Clive! Nice. I remember you mentioning this tool a little while back. It seems it came quickly. So, I'm wondering about the ergonomics of mounting it on a door frame if you have a dozen or more to crimp? I wonder if you could get some of those recessed nuts like on the bottom of an office chair, screwed in at the proper distance on your bench and then just mount the crimper when you need it? Just a thought. You know better how you'll be using it. What fun! It could be a whole Big Clive lamp merch. thing. Lamps done right! LOL

You're going to need a healing mat for putting stuff back together...
