Spicy little ioniser twins

I was surprised to see such different looking ionisers with the exact same PCB in them, and even more surprised at its output.

It's a good demonstration of how little energy is needed to make a strong electrostatic charge.

You can add a separate grounded or slightly positive dust collection plate as a preferred collection surface for a lot of the dust.

Big Clive

Could you put the ioniser in a big grounded box with a little fan for the airflow? Would that make it extra effective and easy to clean once in a while?

Clive, even the 40kV EHT probe for my DMM can't accurately measure very high-Z HV sources.. What you need is an electrostatic voltmeter like this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/234759330147 - which draws zero current. I got an identical meter off eBay for £20 a while back, so worth keeping an eye out., If you get one and want a case for it, I can laser-cut you one out of acrylic and send you the parts: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1ZMUUy1EWEBRkg2jdntjV3EERNamiNeeQ/view?usp=share_link
