I'm also very aware that while the power of religion is dwindling in the UK, it is still a huge thing in America, and I know first hand what it's like to live in a very religious family where it was enforced from an early age.
When I started questioning it I felt genuine fear of the invisible all-seeing god's wrath.

True fact - During Sunday lunch at my Grans house my mother handed me a leaflet advising me that M@sturbation was a sin and that if I continued to do it I would burn in hell.
