Fake carbon dioxide meter
Added 2023-01-23 07:37:27 +0000 UTCFortunately this fake CO2 meter does have a real function. It detects parties based on the ethanol content of the ambient air.
It could possibly be used with other sensors if they were suitably adjusted to be within its range. But the small 3.3V regulator may limit the amount of current the sensor's heater can pass. If it wasn't too voltage critical it might be viable to power the heater from the switched lithium cell rail before the regulator.

It’s so pretty though. Just looked on Japanese Amazon, and this type of thing has taken them all in over there too! Same lovely display and different cases. It’s really annoying that we don’t even know which one of these things (if any) actually detect CO2.

2023-01-26 16:22:46 +0000 UTCI had a look at aliexpress for a CO2 sensor for a project before Christmas and found the real ones four times the cost+. Most CO2 use infra red or a newer versions use Photoacoustic detection methods. In one of the plant rooms has a beam behind a wire mesh for safety alarms. Currently testing the Photoacoustic to replace alarm system which currently detects the ability to combust.
