5000W solar light (may not actually be 5000W)

Another fine example of eBay ratings embellishment to try and compete in a market flooded with many of these little lights.

On a plus note the design is not too bad, and any issues are easy to resolve.  If anything, this light could be an interesting set of parts for a project.

If triggered intermittently it could have an advantage.

How much current does the solar panel deliver at it’s most? Because I suspect that it would be somewhere in the range of 50 mA and will take a while to charge up the lithium ion battery. From what I think, an upgrade would not make much sense since it will take several days to charge even this 1400 mAh battery.

I have one of those battery analyzers. Pretty slick but I wound up pinching the battery contacts with a pliers slightly to get the battery in and out more easily. Takes a while to cycle through.

5000 What?

I'm glad to see dusk sensor functions these days. I did a skiplight back in 2004 ish and the client asked for a daylight inhibit. Battery life was TOP TOP TOP priority. I threw my PICs in the bin and gave them an analogue design that squeezed the pips. Back then, your SFH213 visible photodiode datasheet would recommend a reverse bias circuit for any kind of measurement. Nightmare for battery life. I looked at it and thought "that's just a solar cell". Sure enough I could see it generating 100's of mV depending on ambient light. This was free energy - and simpler. Bung that into a comparator which can inhibit the 7555 and Bob's your uncle. And it turned out to be repeatable.
