The most useful part of this video is the exploration of the cute 5V buck regulator and the hack to get a custom voltage from it.

I did find the AP8003 in my quest for data. I'm not sure if it's an original version or a clone of a clone.

I'm familiar with "death caps" in old guitar amps/stage equipment, but not sure if this is the same meaning. Any cap that, if it dies (depending on circuit, either open- or short-circuit), puts mains where a human could be exposed to it?
