Good solar flame effect light

This light has the unusual feature of not using the common stripe of LEDs often found in these lights, but has instead gone for something more flame-like in shape.

It only seems to have three channels, although it could theoretically drive all the LEDs individually.  The effect is good though, and it suggests that with a bit of better software the effect could be more convincing.

So nice to see a DFM and assembly process that enhances the design! The type of translucent plastic also enhances the blur effect to make it more flame like. Super nice teardown!

This looks like the same light on eBay:

I can remove the biohazard part if that helps. It is a very tiny assembly in total - might need a lens to see clearly.

I'm always a bit squirmy about medical stuff. It's more in the direction of Mike's electric stuff videos.

I'm watching an edited video 13 hours after it was scheduled for publication. This is not "real life!" It's not, it's not it's not! I want 3D teleportation, and I want it now! (I also want time travel and I want it yesterday!)

Curtis Hoffmann

I like the looks of this one.

These candle effects seem to improve year on year- that is a particularly good one, compared to the very first "Flickering" LEDs.

Just going to throw this out there: I have started using a CGM (continuous glucose monitor) and wondered if you would like to dissect one of the little buggers yourself. The disk gets attached to my arm and replaced every 14 days. Let me know if you're interested - it's small enough to fit in a padded envelope, but the (non-electric) applicator with the needle is the size of a small teacup.

Love it. Thanks Big Clive. I'll be keeping my eyes open for a few of these to play with.
