Cheapest "dancoing flame" module teardown

This is the cheapest dancing flame candle effect I've seen, and more surprisingly, it was being sold in a standard shop in Glasgow.

The product it is based on is the classic and very expensive Luminara candle that apparently used licenced Disney technology.  This generic Chinese one will be using unlicensed Disney technology.  (It was apparently used in the Haunted Mansion candle effects.)

This product is worth getting for the bare internal flame module, as it has potential to be improved for your own Halloween style theming.

Clive, have you ever found a way to bypass the flashing mode many of these enter when the battery voltage is low? They still have plenty to light the leds … it’s annoying to waste what’s left just because of some arbitrary check in the module.

Work fatigue and the usual "festival lurgy" that happens due to the huge number of people mingling from all around the world.

You sound a little under the weather my friend. 😞

Last week I was repairing something similar that the coil had become unstuck. It was in a tall wax candle and it was not level so the flicker effect was poor. I got 3 they were only £1 each and cheaper quality in red wax. They seem to work better on a lower voltage, using 2 NiCad, less kick and clattering. However they did have the crystal timing on off circuit in them. I did have some of the original flicker flame made in China but purchased in Canada back in 2012 ish They have a very realistic flame. The timer circuit did use quite a bit more power than I expected on standby. I did see somewhere that they were used on the set of the "Pirates of the Caribbean" I am not sure if that is true
