New style LED flicker flame bulb
Added 2024-02-06 17:06:33 +0000 UTCI was wondering how long it would be before the LED candle flame PCBs would end up inside a glass bulb. The result is very good. Lower power, better colour and brighter than the classic neon version.

2024-02-07 09:46:52 +0000 UTCSome cool LED flame lamps in a mostly glass envelope have been around for several years but have been hard to find. Here's an example: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08789LJPS The flame effect is very good because both the side to side and bottom to top flame motions are modeled in software and repeated on three sides. There used to be a portable rechargeable lamp that used a larger bulb like this with even more LED's (282 of them I think, I have a few of them, $90 each) but the company seems to have stopped making them. Probably too much competition from the cheaper flame lights. It was one of the first LED flame lamps and the flame effect was superb, behind frosted glass it looked real and never repeated its pattern as far as I could tell. I think they had a patent on the idea. 2024-02-07 09:18:13 +0000 UTCI've featured that style in the past (and even managed to upset a Chinese manufacturer when I showed their PCB). That type is very mass produced now.
