Adding a remote control to a fan

Just an ambient thing that I was doing, so I thought I'd make a video while doing it.

It's simple, but it worked out quite well.

I was tempted to try a similar thing with a Chinese diesel heater. We use LPG gas cylinders for heating. With the cost of heating oil being quite cheap at the moment and the heaters being cheap thought it might be more convenient than solid fuel alternative. Although coal is still the cheapest £1 per kWh I've got a diesel heater in my camper and it's been really good so far.

433MHz is legal in the UK & Europe but is limited to 10mW (for things like key-fobs etc.). Licensed radio amateurs can transmit up to 40W or 400W on different parts of the 430-440MHz band but the primary designated user is the military (quel surprise!). I just checked the key-fob that operates my shelf lighting using a TinySA Ultra spectrum analyzer and it shows a spike at 433.9MHz - amazingly useful little device for under $100. You should consider getting one, it lets you visualize what frequencies any device is radiating on, a vague idea of the power level, whether it's pulsed, spread-spectrum (like Lora) etc.

I'm curious if Clive could post a search suggestion for the module and the switch? Thanks.

Nuts 'n' Proud

Can someone post a link to the earlier video where Clive showed that wireless relay module? If I find it first I'll post it here. Thanks.
