Revisiting a very old project

Young Clive made this to carry in his toolbox many years ago, when white LEDs were still relatively new.

It's not actually a bad little unit. Although the NiMH battery looks like it's given up the ghost many years ago.

I was wondering if you wanted to do a follow up video where you make the project better now you have more experience?

Nuts 'n' Proud

It depends what you're looking for. A versatile geiger counter that can detect alpha and beta particles is incredibly expensive as it uses a very specialist tube to allow them to pass through. A cheap eBay geiger counter will detect gamma radiation and indicate a rough level. At the moment my recommended unit is the Radiacode 102 scintillation unit, which still just detects gamma, but can measure energy too and help identify the material that is emitting radiation. It also allows you to map out your local area by linking to your phone and showing a map of where you walked and any significant radiation levels detected. Not super-cheap - but a fraction of the price of the lab grade equipment it competes with. It also has a really well written android app and PC software. https://www.radiacode.com/

Completely off topic, but maybe something for your next stream? Could you recommend a geiger counter that won't break the bank?
