New Chinese power tool battery circuitry

Quite an interesting bit of circuitry in this battery that came with a new style of cordless handheld chainsaw. The chip seems dedicated to this style of pack and its charging system. The most basic schematic is breathtakingly minimalist.

Work colleague just pointed me at this Hackaday article that you might find interesting. Reviving pucker Makita battery packs might be on the cards. https://hackaday.com/2024/06/15/reverse-engineering-makita-batteries-to-revive-them/

Thanks Big Clive. Interesting and cool.

That looks too close for comfort. Except from the few "glitches" a good looking product. Measuring the voltage across the FETs seems very slim/smart to me. It doesn't introduce extra voltage drop either, as a the series resistor would do. Not sure if that would make a difference, but every drop counts when it comes to batteries :-)
