Explosion proof Chinese factory tester

The main feature of this is that it prevents faulty devices from exploding , but there's still a high risk of the factory worker exploding when they use it.

Given how hard it is to get traditional tungsten bulbs now, I guess a suitable alternative would be a low power ceramic vivarium heater - although it would lack the visual indication of a shorted load.

Many years ago when I fixed TVs, I made this (lamp socket with a mains switch across it) to limit load when powering up a TV after replacing the line output transistors (especially Sony) to avoid the big bang. A collection of different wattage light-bulbs acted as a sort of "poor man's variac"..

Clive, you have posed the wrong question. It should read "Clive proof?"

Built a dim bulb tester per Mr Carlson's Lab and it's set up with a receptacle to plug in a lamp socket or heater (good advice regarding the heater to "absorb" more current from the short)
