A nice simple teardown for a change. It's a common oil vaporiser for deterring the presence of flying insects. I'm not sure how effective it is, since they're not a huge issue here.

The custom ceramic heater is very nice. The devious way they have made the unit one time use less so. I wonder if it's just to stop people refilling it, although it's not an expensive unit.

I also wonder how much actual eucalyptus and lemongrass oil there is in the bottle versus an excipient (carrier) like kerosene.

They do a more expensive version with more modern bug killing chemicals.

The child-proofing suggestion is a good one. But I was gonna speculate that the "won't screw out" thing is to prevent the device from being refillable/reusable.

"Holistic" is a bullshit indicator word. It's on the pseudoscience / new age Bingo card.

It's for travel use.

If you bought it in Scotland, why does that have a continental European plug? Weird...

KeresztG

We do.

Big Clive

That's a good point.

The prefilled glass spice mills are also a nuisance for having a non-removable grinder. Once empty we put them in the glass recycling bank, whereas ideally we would remove the grinder to put in the hard plastics (our recycling centre has separate bins for hard and soft plastics, glass, cardboard/paper and milk/drink cartons).

Woofler works too.

Oil bottle locks in to stop 'wee BeyBes' drinking the volatile liquid , as they do in this vicinity.

Two reasons, #1 to make you buy another full unit. #2 maybe child safety.

Don't you have the famous scottish midge in the Isle of Man ?
