Just a photo of the projector room from the Tattoo, showing the racks of video servers and some of the projectors in the background. There are loads more projectors above this area under suitable covers on the roof of the control complex.

This isn't where the actual media is controlled from - it's done from a room with the sound mixing department. This is just the projector management and mapping room.

Windows-based systems?!?!? You're brave! When I did show production we were boned once hard by Windows (5 minute delay in the show for us to flip over to the backup systems) and we kicked it to the curb. Linux/BSD back-ends from that point forward.

thats handy using the markers. πŸ‘

I'm not sure what software and hardware the projection department uses. I deal mainly with lighting, but can help if projection have technical issues.

Big Clive

Partly automatic, but mainly the post-setup realignment. There are infrared pixels scattered over the castle to aid auto-realignment.

Big Clive

It's all changed dramatically.

Big Clive

Not the same as when I was doing lighting in the late70;s and erly 80's.

What hardware and software is used? Disguise, TouchDesigner, Mapmapper, Isadora, Green Hippo, ArtNet, BlackMagic Design, 360 Systems, QLab, LightAct, Smode, 7thsense, Notch? What projectors? And what networking, routers, and NAS? It would be interesting to know how the lighting show is put together and controlled.

Very interesting, i bet they have some fun sorting out the mapping for the castle, even though I guess most of its sutomatic/semi automatic 2xπŸ‘

Come on a bit from the days of brine tanks with electrodes in for dimming.

For a moment I was like "wait, the room has a "Big Clive" placard on the wall?" but then I realized patreon shows the picture without border and what I was seeing was the patreon web page in the background :D

Looks like a lot of cool gear there.
