Annual subscription option
Added 2025-03-23 10:52:32 +0000 UTCBy request, I've enabled the annual subscription option. That means you can get a discount, and it also avoids the payment processors charging each month.
Comments
You enabled it at least three days earlier, as that's when I joined!

2025-03-26 10:57:31 +0000 UTCThank you. Very generous of you.

2025-03-25 20:57:54 +0000 UTCOK, I've canceled my membership and signed up again. I set it at a nice round $100/year.

2025-03-25 09:22:52 +0000 UTCThat's OK. 1 or 2 dollars is ample.
Big Clive
2025-03-24 21:45:29 +0000 UTCPatreon has always been a bit buggy. You may need to cancel and then resubscribe. But $10 or $20 is ample for the full year.

2025-03-24 21:43:57 +0000 UTCI have submitted a bug report with steps to reproduce and screenshots. This stood out to be quite difficult because the system was throwing me out whilst I was filling out the form. I had to start over with a new form. Very weird.

2025-03-24 10:28:14 +0000 UTCFrom NL I tried this, however when I click "Switch to annual" Patreon switches me from "monthly" to "monthly". Odd, I have the feeling they still have a bug to solve.

2025-03-24 10:01:16 +0000 UTCThanks for the option, Clive. If you and I were younger (I'm ten years older) I would take it Clive. :)

2025-03-24 03:49:56 +0000 UTCThank you. I was in doubt too. It helped.

2025-03-23 21:11:52 +0000 UTCThanks! I didn't notice the pencil icon until you clued me in.

2025-03-23 20:14:41 +0000 UTCI tried to change it, but when I go under membership it still says Big Clive $10 per month Next charge date: Apr 1, 2025 Plus applicable taxes. Can anyone post a screenshot of how it looks in their profile? I don't think it changed a thing.

2025-03-23 20:07:17 +0000 UTCI've got an original founders account. It actually restricts what I can do with Patreon, but I'm too scared to rock the boat, given their quirky system.
Big Clive
2025-03-23 19:53:44 +0000 UTCIt's OK. I've not got my bus pass yet.

2025-03-23 19:50:33 +0000 UTCPayPal is fine. I use it a lot.
Big Clive
2025-03-23 19:49:22 +0000 UTCThere is a discount of about 10% if paid annually. It does work out better for me in the sense that there is just one payment processor fee versus the 12 fees of a monthly payment.
Big Clive
2025-03-23 19:48:05 +0000 UTCThanks Clive. If anyone's wondering how to switch at the same tier via the web page, go to the Membership tab above, hover over the box under Your Membership and click the pencil con that appears. Then on the next page it should give the option to 'switch to annual'.
PieFloater
2025-03-23 19:20:19 +0000 UTCYou get a discount when you pay annually, it doesn't affect how much Clive gets.

2025-03-23 18:06:40 +0000 UTCThanks Clive!

2025-03-23 18:05:36 +0000 UTCHmmm, not sure I switched correctly. I was giving $3/month for $36 a year from me. Annual amount was listed at $28ish, which I upped to $35, hoping that Clive will get a bit more per month? than he was getting previously. Clive, is there a way you can corroborate that? Thanks.
Richard Ernst
2025-03-23 17:42:54 +0000 UTCNoted. I’ve not done it yet, so I’ll use the website as you suggest. I want BC to get the dosh, not Apple!
Pete C
2025-03-23 17:36:32 +0000 UTCI'm pretty sure those who switched to renewing annual payments using iPhones have now committed to paying apple every year. Clive will lose a lot of money as a result. See if you can cancel for refund, or at very least, disable auto renewal and do it right next year.
Jeremy Impson
2025-03-23 16:11:28 +0000 UTCDon't use iPhone apps for money transactions. Apple takes 30%. Use the patreon web page.
Jeremy Impson
2025-03-23 16:07:53 +0000 UTCApple takes 30%.
Jeremy Impson
2025-03-23 16:06:52 +0000 UTCiPhone users should not use the patreon app to make payments. Apple will take 30% of the money. This is something apple recently forced on all money transaction apps. (At least in the US.) Workaround is to use the patreon web site when making, scheduling, or adjusting payment transactions.
Jeremy Impson
2025-03-23 16:05:54 +0000 UTCAvoid doing any money transactions on the iPhone patreon app. Apple will take 30% of the money, on top of whatever paypal or your credit card take. This applies to every iPhone app that takes payments. You can get around this by using the patreon web page rather than the app (just to make the payment--you can use the app otherwise.)
Jeremy Impson
2025-03-23 16:03:14 +0000 UTCI've gone over to the annual method (does sound a bit odd but I guess that's ok) I notice mine goes through paypal rather than a bank ; does that reduce the actual amount?
Jim Hewlett
2025-03-23 15:32:06 +0000 UTCFor the life of me I can’t find the way to change my monthly payment to an annual payment on my iPhone and on the patron app too. Can someone help this myopic member please? Thanks Keith. W.

2025-03-23 15:24:18 +0000 UTCSounds like a good idea. Will grab my wallet.... When it's a little heavier.

2025-03-23 12:36:31 +0000 UTCThank you, although no beans. I think that the method @peaswithlasers used seems to be my only option. No biggie though!

2025-03-23 12:23:41 +0000 UTCIt sounds like the app on different phones and also Vs computer all offer different options, how helpful

2025-03-23 12:13:11 +0000 UTCWhen I try to switch to annual it refuses to allow me to stay on the $3 tier...forces be to the lower one.

2025-03-23 12:07:22 +0000 UTCAnnual subscription to a guy with a bus pass🤔 Sounds a bit risky!! Do they they do a 6 monthly option? 🤣🤣
Matty England
2025-03-23 11:54:42 +0000 UTCSwitched to an annual custom $24 sub, same price for me, few extra pennies for BC!

2025-03-23 11:53:07 +0000 UTCI am not using an iPhone, but on my laptop I had this issue. You have to make sure that all the payment details are filled in before the "Subscribe" button becomes active.

2025-03-23 11:51:57 +0000 UTCSwitched from an iPhone. Not sure what Apple will take away. There were some discussions last year around the payments for Patreon.

2025-03-23 11:51:38 +0000 UTCFor anyone struggling on a computer (I can't help with mobile apps), go to the Membership tab, then under your tier option click "Join" and you will get to the page inviting you to choose monthly or annual subscription, keeping the same tier.
Stephen King
2025-03-23 11:51:28 +0000 UTCI can't work out how to change to annual without downgrading to lower tier? Edit, I cancelled my monthly subscription and then rejoined as annual one. I assume this works out better overall financially for you big Clive? Otherwise I feel like I've now done you a disservice?
Peaswithlasers
2025-03-23 11:43:12 +0000 UTCI can’t figure out how to change to yearly. When I toggle the switch, the button at the bottom is greyed out. This is in the app on iPhone. Anyone managed to figure it out?

2025-03-23 11:38:28 +0000 UTCI just switched to the annual option and switched to a higher tier.
