First test of the new recording area

A test video in the new garage recording area, where I can accommodate bigger items.
It's a "classic" eBay under sink water heater, which I bought purely so we could take it to bits and see what the construction is like.

There are automatic valves that can shut off if water flows for longer than a preset time.

I can move the camera a bit further up to get a wider view, but if it's too high it causes issues with seeing and using its touch screen.
I installed a similar, but UK sourced and approved heater (Ariston) for my brother and did install it on the lower pressure tank-fed hot water line for exactly the reasons you describe, as it always took ages for the hot water from the main tank to reach the kitchen. In that instance, any expansion should be accommodated by the tank in the attic.

Interesting. Thanks Big Clive. I was wondering off the top if you would have been able to zoom out just a little more to see the whole water heater? Not sure. I watch all your content on a 55" computer screen but I know you try to optimize for phone screens. I think the sound is fine with only the slightest amount of reverb perhaps. Then again, these 64 year old ears aren't what they used to be.
The heater looks pretty much like this one sold here in the States for $63. Another listing of the same thing/different seller for $73 with nine mostly positive ratings.

The average water pressure in Boise is 60 psi.
I thought about getting one of these (preferably one with numerous high ratings?) for under the sink in my bathroom. Would there be a problem with connecting the hot water line to the cold inlet of the heater. I'd consider doing that for more instant warm water to wash hands rather than waiting 30 seconds for the hot water to get there?

I wonder if something like a PIR sensor wired to a solenoid valve on the inlet flow (before the pressure relief valve) could prevent the flood risk. This would also avoid someone accidentally running up a bill with the hot tap left running.
