Bedtime quickie - one way valve

Like a short, but horizontal and with useful information.

This is a look at a common eBay one way valve. I got it to test its ability to hold a slight vacuum pressure for some experiments.

Bedtime quickie - one way valve

Comments

I recently 3D printed a one-way air valve for my kitchen sink, as it was alway "gurgling". Just a simple round rubber diafram (piece of old bicycle tire) and a hole for the ait to get in. The diafram stops the water from getting out. Even my plumber was impressed that it could be 3D printed.

I used one on a fuel line to stop drain-back. It worked for a few months then failed. Autopsy revealed that the plastic/rubber parts are susceptible to damage from E10 fuel. The valve also needs a good head of back pressure to seal properly which reduces its usefulness a bit.
