I wonder how many people will misconfigure that device or swap it between items without changing the voltage and fry expensive equipment.

If anyone is after a variable supply I've backed a Kickstarter for something similar. I've not received it yet but they do different ends including one with terminal connections, which is why I went for it.

I have a few which I've used to keep my router powered during power cuts. Most routers only use around 300mA to 500mA without any USB accessories attached. During the 5 day outage we had from storm Eowyn, my brother borrowed one to power his Fritz Box and a 20,000mAh battery bank would last about a day. I would then recharge his power bank overnight from a Leisure battery (powering our equipment) to prepare for the next day until mains power was restored.
