Inside a (recalled) kinetic picture
Added 2024-12-02 20:40:18 +0000 UTCThese were very popular here in the early 2000's, until they suddenly got pulled off the shelves due to their tendency to get very hot in use. You could actually smell the hot electrical smell from them when you walked into the shops that sold them.
The internal construction is very DIY looking.

I only ever saw these in Chinese restaurants in the 90's. Using a Moire pattern for the lower part is a clever idea. Looks like a prime item for an LED conversion.
