Inside a T12 (and similar) soldering bit
Added 2025-01-22 15:37:12 +0000 UTCThese soldering iron bits are quite clever. They combine a heating element and thermocouple in the very tip of the bit to deliver all the energy to the solder joints in an efficient manner.
I slit one open with a dremel to see what was inside.
