Kids say some hurtful things that they don't mean, but he MEANT that. And when his dad ripped his drawing, he didn't yell. He calmly stated, "I'm exhausted from work" which may be relatable to a lot of parents. Like yea that's true, but kids don't see that. Nor do parents see in the moment, how that's affecting their children.

Like for the ramen scene and when Sabo was hiding his nobility, Mav was tryna explain his thoughts, looking to Marv naturally, but also being pulled away by not wanting to miss anything on-screen. It's a bit of a nitpick, but in some situations I think it makes sense.
