Watchtower wall WIP

Ladies and gentlemen,

I am back from my holiday and have already started to continue with the watchtower. As you can see I created a first textured "draft" for the base tower module, reusing the style I developed for the "Grenzwacht" sets. In general it is starting to look good! However ...

... I have noticed a little glitch! When I made the tower I added a little breathing room to the bare 3" grid width so minis will have some space if you want to fill up the interior. I forgot this when developing the upper modules so I realized when I hooked up the core tower with the small extension it was too small!

So now I am in the process of updating all the upper modules so they will fit with the core tower! While I am at it I also will adjust the topmost roof module as I noticed the textured don't blend well when using it with the extended upper module. See here...

The end of the upper roof creates an ugly "break" in the texturing, so I made it a little longer to hide the overlap better. Now you can almost not see the two different modules. Of course if you want to glue them together you could hide it even better.

So right now I am going over all these little things I have noticed and fixing what I can :)

Next I want to add some small dormer options for the top roof and also make alternate textures for the upper module walls for different tower looks and add some shutters for the upper module windows.

The last step will be to try to come up with a little terrain hill to place the tower on! But I need to work on the geometry first.

The vacation was a very nice break. With me now working part time in addition to the papercraft I felt the relax and recharge of the holidays so much more. Like last year we went to the island of Alonnisos in Greece as friends of ours have a house there we are invited to use. We love it there as it is very quiet. Not much party tourism going on  there. Great for guys my age :) You just hear the small birds, the cicada and the seagulls during the day and some small owl during the night. With a clear sky the nights are most impressive as you see the stars and milky way so clear there. No light pollution.

But after two weeks of this I am happy to be back and get going again with my papercraft :)

As I mentioned in my last post, the charging for this month is on pause as I don't have any new bits!

So this is my update and I look forward to getting more done on the watchtower set! Until the next time, stay safe and keep building!

Chris
