This in my top three SW films. Well actually not this version specifically, the pre-special edition original. This is like mark 4 or 5, or whatever altered version this one is. I honestly lost track of the edits George made over the years. I used to get emotional at the end, like you did. Unfortunately, I got a little deadened to the impact of Anakin's redemption arch after Ep 2 & 3. The specific nature of his horrific crimes laid bare, made a redemption story truly unpalatable. This is the consequence of not fully planning your narrative out, and revisiting portions of the story for addendums. (Also known as operation time to sell some more toys and merchandise.) 🤣 I've seen too many historic clips of Mr Lucus explaining how he'd made this or that decision and was forced to come up with narratively significant solutions for his shortcomings as a decisive storyteller. I have always credited Mr Lucus's keen business sense however. I think I will go on to watch the CGI cash cows. If only to watch your enjoyment in discovering new things. That part is really fun. Then explaining my reasons for not liking specific things about them. I'll be interested in hearing your views on certain character developments, and relaying my own.

So Harrison Ford had a deal with George Lucas for "Han Solo in perfect hibernation and encased in carbonite" to be the end of Han Solo. I don't remember how he did it but Lucas was able to convince Ford to do Han Solo ONE MORE TIME. Having seen it for yourself, now you know why Princess Leia in a very revealing gold bikini has fueled MANY a 12 to 15 year old teenager's masterbation fantasy over the past almost 30 years.🤣 And finally, not to be a spoiler because you already know that somehow or another that beautiful young Anakin Skywalker that appeared in Force Ghost form along with Obi-Wan Kenobi and Yoda is going to end up horribly disfigured with an EXTREMELY bad case of asthma and as the Sith Lord Darth Vader, but as emotional and distraught as you got during Anakin Skywalker's death scene prepare yourself for Episode III when you see how Anakin got that way. It breaks my heart and brings tears to my eyes EVERY TIME I've see it since 2005.

Glad you're enjoying them! ❤️

Not to throw a lot of "Older versions were better" but they did add a few things, not that I didn't necessarily like, but I'm glad to have seen the pre-special-edition versions. An example is the song at the very end, it was a very simple Ewok song. They remastered the scene with a bunch of other worlds celebrating. They kept the pan flute and drum feel of it, but I thought the original song was adorable. It hit me in the feels to watch your reactions on everything here, thanks for inviting us to share in your experience.

Just joined and I am enjoying you reactions very much. As a fun little bit of trivia Leia wasn't originally suppose to be Luke's sister. Lucas planned a sequel trilogy, that would follow Luke's twin sister, Nelleth Skywalker. Originally, this movie would have ended with Luke defeating Darth Vader and embarking on the search for Nelleth. However, with the production of ESB, and this movie taking an enormous toll on his health and personal life (he and wife Marcia Lucas divorced shortly after the release of this movie), he opted to end the franchise here by making Leia into Luke's sister.
