OK, I lasted a day. π€£ I've been looking forward to this one ever since the OT concluded. I've banged on with how much I distain for attempts at prequel stories. But for some unfathomable reason..... Well actually, that's disingenuous, I could make a long list, but I won't. π For me, this one works in important and significant areas, where perhaps the other prequels fail to. Oh boy, now we move on to the sequels. Eek.... This is where I broke my fandom with Star Wars. It wasn't the sequel movies, ironically. But the toxicity that surrounds them. Much like the original notion of the force, of an energy field surrounding and binding. Genuine detailed critique gets drowned out by some pretty transparent ugliness, gloaked in proclamations of the defence of a vision. (Forgetting, George edited constantly as he moved back and forth through the six movies.) Influences of the dark side are prevalent in those that speak so definitively and passionately, like their view is just the standard. As Obi-Wan would say, "Only the Sith deal in absolutes." Where they might fail is where prequels succeeded, and vice versa. Nostalgia inhibits me from subjectively appraising the original trilogy. I benchmark those as the yardstick to compare each set either side. As always, I welcome your balanced viewpoint for them.
