Something rather intimate: a few weeks ago I presented my very own pole dance choreography. It's a part of the process at our studio: if you want to move on into a higher level of classes because you think you're ready and know all the "old" stuff, you have to do a test. In my case, I wanted to change from beginner to intermediate courses. So I had to
a) do a 90 second choreography of my own creation with (amongst others) 3 tricks in a row without touching the floor in between. To show I know the technique and the different shapes.
b) show some conditioning tricks to prove I have the strength to move on and accomplish more difficult things in the future.
And some more tricks requested by the head of our studio, who watched and juged everything the candidates did.
I passed and am now an intermediate student 🥳 but I was really really nervous haha. Like, I don't know when I was this nervous for the last time. Especially because I sometimes struggle with my inverts when I have a bad day. But everything went fine.
And let me tell you, after my first two intermediate classes: damn, they're right to demand this kind of test because the new tricks are almost all upside down the pole and definitely not a piece of cake. Hopefully this will get better soon and maybe, in a year from now, I can do my test to become an advanced student (probably not going to happen haha, but let me dream).
