The Clone Wars: The Capture of Nute Gunray [013-015/134] ✦ Watchalong Reaction & Review

Right? So wild to me.

I love Kit Fisto :) Also, when I saw episode 3 before this series, I kinda didn't really sympathize with Anakin and his thinking he should be a master. However, with this series and the development of this character and authority and all he gave to the clone wars, it makes sense that he feels jilted now in Ep3. And to be fair, he WAS jilted. Just more of the council's inconsistencies.

Thanks for all the details!

Hey, Kaiielle! BOMBAD JEDI: Rodian Senator Onocanda Farr was seen in the Prequel trilogy and in previous episodes as a background character in group shots but here takes center stage and is revealed to have a personal tie to Padme. This episode introduces Farr's aide, Silood. A tell-tale sign of their relationship is that Anakin keeps a spare Jedi robe in Padme's yacht! Jar Jar's disguise is Anakin's wardrobe! How Jar Jar has survived this long is a mystery not even Lucas can answer! There is a wild fan theory meant to redeem the absurdity of Jar Jar that speculates he is a secret Sith Lord! I like how Padme forgives her colleague's lapse in judgment and covers for him pretending they plotted his defection as a ruse to lure the Viceroy. Silly as this Jar Jar-centric episode was, it causes future repercussions. Anthony Daniels again voices C-3PO and Ahmed Best again voices Jar Jar. CLOAK OF DARKNESS: Mirialan Master Luminara Unduli is seen in the arena battle in "Attack of the Clones" and is seen commanding the Wookiees of Kashyyyk in "Revenge of the Sith". Clone Commander Gree with the red double mohawk tries to kill Yoda on Kashyyyk when Order 66 is initiated and gets decapitated. Ahsoka's aggressive interrogation is the effect of Anakin's influence. With that obnoxious pompadour, you just knew that Captain Argyus was crooked. Terrific three-way lightsaber action in this episode and a fine showcase for Asajj Ventress! LAIR OF GRIEVOUS: Nautolan Master Kit Fisto is seen in the arena battle in "Attack of the Clones" and gets killed by Palpatine when the Jedi try to arrest him in "Revenge of the Sith". The statue of the warrior was what Grievous looked like before becoming a cyborg. He was from a species called Kaleesh. This episode is one of only a handful that portray Grievous as a deadly adversary whereas he mostly comes across as a cowardly bumbler. However, in the 2003 non-canon micro-series, he's absolutely terrifying! In the 2003 non-canon micro-series, Mace Windu Force-crushes his chestplate which causes him to wheeze thereafter. I've no idea what the canonical reason is but Grievous does have flesh-and-blood lungs. Dooku definitely believes in tough love! He set up that ambush to test Grievous! Talk about the boss from hell! Mon Calamari Knight Nahdar's rage toward Grievous and disregard of the clones demonstrated the corrupting influence of the war on the Jedi.

I loved the Jedi cloak in the closet on the ship.

kaiielle

"Battle droids??" "No." "Jar-Jar?" "Jar-Jar." 😆 This scene gets me every time. Plus, the Jedi cloak in the ship it's such a good wink-wink for Anakin and Padme's romance. Love that.

So excited!

kaiielle

Love that!

Loved the reaction, and You said that you liked focusing on other Characters besides Obi Wan and Anakin and Ahsoka so your definitely gonna like some episodes to come, plenty of those 3 together but also a bunch of Wierd pairs like Jar Jar and 3-SO in this batch are yet to come!!!

Justin

Also Comander Gree in the Lumanara and Ahsoka Episode is the same Clone that Yoda cuts the head off of During order 66. Well there are 2 and he is one of them. And Kit Fisto is one of the Jedi that go with Mace to arrest Palpatine in episode 3

Justin

Yeah I can't wait to watch Episode 3 when TCW is over. Probably gonna cry even harder than I did in the first watch.

kaiielle

Ahh interesting!

kaiielle

If characters are just hanging out in the backgrounds, I likely won't notice them at all. So they're "new" to me. 😊 Awesome that their stories are fleshed out.

kaiielle

Luminara and Kit Fisto were technically in the background of the movies, as stated by Guiguioh. The Clone Wars really likes to bring in background characters without speaking roles from the movies and put them into arcs/episodes in the show. It makes episode 3 hit a lot harder when you watch it after the series. Obviously Ahsoka isn't the main character of clone wars, but a lot of those characters are brought in to develop Ahsoka's character and shape her personality as a change of pace from just being with Anakin all the time.

Andrew Sitek

Grievious was originally a species called Kaleesh, and he was the figure that the statues depicted in the beginning of the Lair of Grievous episode. Basically Grievious was a bloodthirsty warlord in his home system, got in a crash orchestrated by Dooku/Palpatine that would've killed him, and they saved him with cybernetics, so there are still some organs like we saw in Episode 3. There was a short 2D clone wars series before this one that showed Mace Windu force crushing his chest plate which is where the cough comes from.

Andrew Sitek

Your outro perfectly describe what the Clone Wars show is and why it is so fun. Small details, Luminara and Kit Fisto are not technically new, they are in episode 2 and 3 but in non speaking background roles. But classic SW, every background character has a story.
