There’s a few movies that are absolutely perfect for what they are. This is one of those movies. Great movie and reaction. Like many people of my generation, I grew up watching re-runs of Adam West’s Batman. It was good, campy fun. And I remember Cesar Romero as The Joker. Since it was family friendly tv, he never actually hurt anyone. Sure, tried to kill Batman all the time, but we all knew his schemes would fail and he seemed more like a wayward uncle than an actual menace. Then, at the ripe old age of eight, I read my first Batman comic book (I was always more of a Marvel guy). In the opening pages of the comic a museum guard was shown dead on the floor, with that death rictus smile the Joker was infamous for. I’d never seen such a stark image in a comic book before that. The revelation that The Joker wasn’t just some clown, doomed to be foiled week in and week out by Batman and the Boy Wonder, really shook me. This Joker played for keeps and his victims were innocent men and women that just happened to cross paths with a monster. It changed my view of not only the character, but comics in general. And Batman became the only DC Comics character that I followed with any regularity. To this day, I remain an ardent fan. And a big part of it was that image and the realization that they were playing for much higher stakes than I had previously realized. In the coming years, I would see first hand how comics could intelligently deal with real life issues we confront every day, such as racism (X-Men), the difference between patriotism and blind allegiance (Captain America), vigilantism (The Punisher), alcoholism (Iron Man) and so much more. But it all started for me with that image of a dead guard on a museum floor.

Thank you!

great movie, always have a hard time rewatching it because i did not accept the death of rachel very well. I love this trilogy, but i'm more confortable with good endings. Great video !
