The Clone Wars: Corruption on Mandalore + Assassin [046-048/134] ✦ Watchalong Reaction & Review

Hey, Kaiielle! CORRUPTION: A return to Mandalore revisiting Duchess Satine Kryze and Prime Minister Almec. Satine pulls out all the stops for a royal welcome! It is always important to note that whenever Separatists or Neutral parties accuse the Republic of corruption that their claims are 100% legitimate. The Jedi are in the service of a moribund government! The corporate conglomerates, special interest groups and financial institutions backing the secessionist Separatists also have representatives in the Republic Senate ensuring policy is crafted to protect their interests at the expense of the general public. Much like the two Sith Lords puppeteering each faction, these monolithic organizations have a stake in both sides of the Civil War to hedge their bets and ensure continued profitability. Naturally, Dooku and Palpatine facilitate this double-dealing to obstruct any progressive reforms that might alter the status quo. Even Satine's own council has a representative to the Trade Federation indicating that even the neutral worlds must deal with the same entities. A good Satine - Padme team-up! This episode is like a police procedural with Cagney and Lacey, an '80s cop show about two female detectives. Despite ferreting out the corrupt policemen, school superintendent and customs official, it's important to note that Siddiq, the cooperative importer, was untouchable due to his corporate contracts most likely with the Trade Federation. All Satine really accomplished was rounding up bottom-feeders while the corrosive galactic institutions operate with impunity. Satine goes scorched-earth and vents her spleen by blowing up the slabin warehouse even though she realizes the larger problem is depressingly endemic. What is up with Mandalorians and cubism? Even the food is served as little cubes! Lol. THE ACADEMY: Good Ahsoka growth episode particularly given that she is authorized to act autonomously while unarmed. The introduction of Korkie, Satine's nephew, and his Scooby crew of Amis, Lagos and Soniee. Amis, the boy with the mohawk, is voiced by Omid Abtahi of "Argo", "Better Call Saul", "American Gods", "Fear the Walking Dead" and "The Mandalorian". Apparently, the leadership of Mandalore including Governor Pre Vizsla, Senator Tal Merrik and Prime Minister Almec were all in opposition to Duchess Satine! Talk about being lonely at the top. When Ahsoka is taken to interrogate the cadets, she passes a cell occupied by the corrupt customs official from the previous episode who scowls at her. This episode represents yet another discrepancy with the official chronology evidenced by Ahsoka's confident use of the Jedi mind trick. Even though it failed to work on the Mandalorian Secret Service officer who only pretended to be ensorcelled, Ahsoka employed the tactic assuredly. In an episode yet to be seen, she plainly states she's never tried such a thing before. Therefore, that episode should PRECEDE this Duology. There was wild speculation at the time that Korkie was the love-child of Obi-Wan and Satine but this was never confirmed and remains firmly fanfic. ASSASSIN: A good Padme - Ahsoka bonding episode. The last time the duo shared an adventure was in the Blue Shadow Virus Duology. The two have formed a sisterly attachment to each other. Ahsoka develops a new Jedi ability in this episode: interpreting Force-visions. Good observation about how Yoda advises Ahsoka and Anakin regarding their visions. With Ahsoka, he's nurturing a nascent ability in a Padawan and is encouraging. With Anakin, he is correcting a wayward Knight with attachment issues and admonishes. To both, he warns that the future is always in motion and, therefore, clouded. A brief appearance by Master Librarian Jocasta Nu. While Padme admits to having felt out of her depth as a young Queen to Ahsoka, the two play a holographic game of dejarik. Prior to the "Obi-Wan Kenobi" series, this episode provided a glimpse of how beautiful Alderaan is. Leia's theme plays as Padme disembarks from her yacht to be greeted by Senators Bail Organa and Mon Mothma, the future leaders of the Rebellion. Padme cites the events of "Phantom Menace" as a microcosm of the current Galactic crisis making her especially attuned to the humanitarian relief such disruptions require. The return of Aurra Sing thought dead in the Season 2 finale, "Lethal Trackdown"! This episode is the prelude to the Ziro the Hutt Trilogy. The Capote-esque slug returns here after last being seen in the animated movie.

I bet this was a fun re-watch for you then!

Love any arc with Mandalore. It’s nice to get a refresh on the history and culture. Haven’t seen this since before The Mandalorian came out.

Absher

We really do!

kaiielle

I will :)

Also (not exactly a spoiler because you’ve watched all the movies) but keep and eye and ear out for certain clone wars characters in Rogue One and Solo as you rewatch them.

This was a really fun video for me in particular, because these 3 episodes are some of the episodes I LEAST remember clearly in Clone Wars, season 3 is kinda all over the place with one offs and a jumbled timeline so I was nice to see so much Satien, Padmé, and Ahsoka without Anakin or Obi-Wan really stealing the show😂. I actually almost teared up when watching the Satien episodes a little because we NEED a Satien in the REAL WORLD RIGHT NOW! Padmé too but still

Justin

Oh, that's neat!

kaiielle

Korkie is very cute.

kaiielle

“I love that fish tank.” Kaielle I have bad news! Also, I simply love my sweet naive little fancy-lad Korkie.

To answer your question if Zero the Hutt is male or female. The hutt spiecies can choose and switch between the gender they want. Zero is male, and uncle to Jabba the Hutt. (The Hutt in Return of the Jedi)
