The Clone Wars: The Nightsisters Trilogy [057-059/134] ✦ Watchalong Reaction & Review

Comments

Very true. It's honestly hard to catch every single thing. I try my best, but there are times I like to talk, so it'll happen!

kaiielle

Awesome reaction as always. Sometimes you do go on a tangent and miss things; like King Katuunko being force choked and getting his neck snapped by Savage, but that's pretty human so it isn't a super big deal. There's always someone who will point things out in a comment anyway.

Khan Battle

Of course! Thank you for watching.

Thank you!

Thanks again for sharing your thoughts and reactions with us. So fun going through Clone Wars again!

Awesome trilogy, funny meme too haha. I’m sure someone already said this but I’ll chime in anyway. There are a lot of different characters that are force sensitive. It’s not a specific species, force sensitivity is not in everyone. It’s a totally individual thing with various degrees. It’s determined by midi-chlorian count. Actually, this might explain it a little better. https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Midi-chlorian

Absher

Thanks for all the info!

kaiielle

I love that!

kaiielle

Very excited!

The nightsisters are force users, but the force works differently for them. It's more like a dark magic to them. There are a few instances of general "force users" to contrast the jedi/sith where some people can harness the force, but in different ways. Another reason the nightsisters are so interesting.

Andrew Sitek

I mentioned it in a previous video, but senate trilogy is alright, but these next few arcs including nightsisters arc really turn a corner in the show. There are some weak spots from here to the end, but overall the quality is much higher both in story and animation. We're getting to the meat of it now

Hey, Kaiielle! MONSTER: The introduction of SAVAGE OPPRESS voiced by CLANCY BROWN, a sci-fi mainstay known most famously as the Kurgan from "Highlander". I feel for the man Savage once was. The Nightsisters turned him into a brute! As a Dathomiri Zabrak, he is a hybrid with a heritage of Force-sensitivity but the transformation ritual imbues him with Dark Side energy that enhances his sensitivity. The introduction of BROTHER VISCUS and the NIGHTBROTHERS of Dathomir. The first mention of DARTH MAUL! This episode demonstrates the absolute MATRIARCHY of Dathomir. It is revealed that Mother Talzin is indebted to Dooku for some past service he performed. Delivering Savage clears her of the debt. However, it also sows the seeds of Ventress' revenge plot. Talzin has agreed to betray Dooku in order to aid a wronged Nightsister yet has no qualms about doing harm to a former benefactor. Is it just that loyalty to the Sisterhood trumps all other relationships or could there be another reason why Talzin wishes to destroy Dooku? DEVARON is the homeworld of the Devaronians who look like horned demons. The slain Jedi Master was a Roonan named HALSEY and the slain Jedi Padawan was a Nautolan named KNOX, ill-fitting names for the exotic duo making them sound more like a country music group! Halsey & Knox! Lol. KATIE LUCAS again writes the episode. WITCHES OF THE MIST: Ventress' plot to avenge herself against Dooku comes to an exciting climax in this episode! Cameo appearance by DELTA SQUAD, the Clone Commando unit from the 2005 "Republic Commando" video game, transporting the corpses of Jedis Halsey and Knox back to Coruscant from Devaron. The four-man squad consists of BOSS, FIXER, SEV and SCORCH. Toydarian KING KATUUNKO returns after his last appearance in "Ambush" (Season 1, Episode 1). Dooku apparently held a grudge after the Toydarian king rebuffed his offer to join the Separatists. You were speculating out loud and did not notice when Katuunko attempted to flee but had his neck Force-snapped by Savage who was being harried by Obi-Wan and Anakin. Savage has been fashioned into a blunt instrument filled with rage so he quite naturally turned on both his abusive masters. Another great three-way Jedi duel and three-way Dooku duel but the only casualty was one of Savage's horns! I love how the battle droids are just tossed around like rag dolls by everybody! The first glimpse of DARTH MAUL since "Phantom Menace". MAUL LIVES!!! KATIE LUCAS again writes the episode.

Hey, Kaiielle! The SENATE TRILOGY is considered the first mature arc in the series because of its depth rather than its heightened action. It is the first time one meets the Separatists and is made to understand their viewpoint as legitimate which is something the movies only imply but never state explicitly. Despite Padme's galvanizing speech, ultimately the trio of episodes demonstrate the inevitability of Palpatine. NIGHTSISTERS: The origin of ASAJJ VENTRESS revealed! A Dathomiri Zabrak by birth, she is raised by the Nightsisters. Given as a slave to a Siniteen master as part of some bargain, his death at the hands of Weequay pirates triggers a Force-manipulation detected by Human Jedi Master Ky Narec who takes her as a Padawan until Weequays kill him, too. Enraged and adrift, she auditions for Dooku as his assassin and he takes her on as a Dark Side adept. Her audition for Dooku as well as her starfighter with the hemispheric fan-sail are both seen in the non-canon 2003 Micro-series. The introduction of MOTHER TALZIN and the NIGHTSISTERS of Dathomir. The introduction of KARIS and NAA'LETH. Naa'leth is the one with the bow. The NIGHTSISTERS were first introduced in a 1985 made-for-TV movie called "Ewoks: Battle for Endor". The cult was founded by a rogue human female Jedi 600 years before "A New Hope". She settled on DATHOMIR, a world rich with Dark Side energy that manifested as a green ichor called The Water of Life. She lured the human female colonists away from their families and formed the first Nightsister clan which continued to grow with new recruits into the cult. Fear of the cult eventually conferred a haunted reputation on the witch-world and enabled the Nightsisters to lay claim to the planet as their own trading their power for favors and influence. ZABRAKS like Jedi Master Eeth Koth and bounty huntress Sugi call IRIDONIA their homeworld. At some point in the past, pirates brought Zabrak captives to the Nightsisters to sell. The clan purchased the males, set up a compound for them at some remove from their Temple and interbred with the fiercest. The offspring were Human-Zabrak hybrids known as DATHOMIRI ZABRAK such as Darth Maul. The female children replenished the clan and the male children were sent back to the compound. All Zabrak Nightbrothers and Nightsisters on Dathomir nowadays are of this hybrid variety. THE WATER OF LIFE is a powerful green elixir with the consistency of ichor whose most crucial ingredient is a hunk of flesh from a titanic crustacean-like leviathan known as the SLEEPER. Residing deep beneath the watery pools in the Nightsister Temple, it is ancient and can manipulate the Dark Side of the Force. The Nightsisters must dominate the beast and force it to tear a piece of its flesh off to use in making The Water of Life elixir as a rite of passage. Failure to subjugate the beast to one's will results in the beast subjugating the initiate to its will pulling them into the pool to feast on them in its lair. Not every Nightsister initiate survives. THE WATER OF LIFE is clearly inspired by Frank Herbert's "Dune" whose very own Water of Life is the death-vomit of a drowned baby sandworm used by the Bene Gesserit witches as a psychotropic narcotic to unlock genetic memory. The liquid is lethally toxic but a recipient trained to control their own body's metabolism can convert the poison into the consciousness-expanding narcotic. Obi-Wan Kenobi loses the body armor and takes on the robed appearance he has in "Revenge of the Sith" from here on out much like Anakin did last arc. Excellent THREE-WAY Jedi duel between Obi, Ani and Asajj. Excellent FOUR-WAY duel between Dooku, Asajj and the Nightsister duo. George Lucas' daughter, KATIE LUCAS, wrote "Jedi Crash" (Season 1, Episode 13) with Aayla Secura, "Sphere of Influence" (Season 3, Episode 4) with Riyo Chuchi and "Assassin" (Season 3, Episode 7) with Aurra Sing. With this episode, she formally takes over the authorship of Asajj Ventress.

This was a lot of fun seeing Savage again! Rest In Peace King Katuunko😢! So Zabraks (Maul & Savage) are specifically Dathomierian Zabraks but like Richie here said that Sugi and Eeth Koth are Iridonian Zabraks. My guess as to “why” the difference would be cross Breeding with the NightSisters. There is 1 “HIGH PROFILE” example of a NightBrother (Dathomierian Zabrak) being the Son of Mother Talzin sooo🤷‍♂️. And you asked about the force regarding Savage. It’s Weird and Confusing. So since the force resides in all living things, technically ANYTHING ALIVE have the POTENTIAL to be able to tap into the force in some way. The Green Magicks of the NightSisters is Force Related. Force Sensitive refers to someone who can WEILD the force (NightSisters, Jedi, Sith, Inquisitors). But some have a “higher Midiclorian count making it easier to tap into the force compared to others. Chirrut Îmwe from Rogue One is a great example, he could feel the force’s guidance but couldn’t force push or Choke with it. So in Savage’s case I think he was force sensitive but the NightSisters gave him an extra boost.

Justin

we see how overpowered dooku is in this arc lol

Kevin Anand

Very excited! Will be doing it as soon as I get home.

kaiielle

This is an absolutely fantastic trilogy, and a great reaction as always too kaiielle! The next arc is the stuff of legends, can’t wait for you to see it!😆

Sean H

Neat! Thanks!

kaiielle

While its never been officially said (at least to my knowledge) that the night sisters and night brothers are the same species, which would technically be zabraks, its inferred that the night sisters use the night brothers as mates, and that the female dathomirian zabraks just look different for some reason. There are also iridonian zabraks, and the females of this species look way more like their male counterparts. For example, the female bounty hunter Sugi in the episode Bounty Hunters is an iridonian zabrak, while the Jedi Eeth Koth that appears in the episode Grievous Intrigue is also an iridonian zabrak.
