Hondo has some great lines and delivery of them!

kaiielle

Hey, Kaiielle! TIPPING POINTS: King DENDUP rallies the populace by holographic address. The "DINOTOPIA"-like roots of Onderonian culture from Dark Horse LEGENDS are evinced by the large number of reptilian steeds in the rebel army. I really like the four-eyed pterodactyl-like beasts called RUPINGs. SAW not caring about collateral damage in Iziz foreshadows his future PARTISAN TACTICS . STEELA gets a field promotion to General commanding both the regular army and the guerrillas! LUX gets a LUSTY LIP LOCK from Steela! AHSOKA gives a teasing rap on the shoulder to Lux and resigns herself to the FRIEND-ZONE. KALANI's new DROID GUNSHIPS are seen in live-action in "Revenge of the Sith" on Kashyyyk! The new shielded hardware pastes the rebels! ANAKIN chafes at the Council's complacency and devises a backdoor policy: arms smuggling! The RETURN of HONDO OHNAKA last seen in "Lethal Trackdown" (Season 2, Episode 22). JIM CUMMINGS delivers Hondo's lines with such rakish charm. To Steela: "You could be my new favorite spice." Lol. To Ahsoka when the shooting starts: "Oh, my! Would you look at the time?" Lmao! The DEATH of STEELA GERRERA and the unmooring of Saw Gerrera. KALANI disposes of King SANJAY RASH and is dispatched to AGAMAR. King RAMSIS DENDUP is restored and joins the REPUBLIC. LUX BONTERI follows in his momma's footsteps as SENATOR. STEELA GERRERA gets a STATE FUNERAL. SAW GERRERA learns victories can be PYRRHIC and simmers with rage. THE CLOVIS TRILOGY was advertised as next to air at the time but it got relegated to "THE LOST MISSIONS" of Season 6 when the Youngling Arc replaced it on the release schedule. I prefer to see it here as it maintains the serious tone of the Onderon Arc and keeps Ian Abercrombie's voice performance as Palpatine intact since the actor passed away after completing The Shadow Collective Arc.

Hey, Kaiielle! THE SOFT WAR: STEELA's leadership and holographic address puts RASH on his heels! The INTRODUCTION of General AKENATHEN TANDIN. General TANDIN's proposal about using the human militia to discourage attacks instead of relying on the disposable droids the rebels have no qualms about destroying was sound strategy. I like how he and KALANI nearly come to blows before Rash intervenes! SAW just isn't a team player and his refusal to obey his sister's command foreshadows his future division from the Rebellion. His bold plan to free the deposed DENDUP instead springs a baited trap! Fortunately, TANDIN's interrogation of SAW reminds the General that his duty is to the people and not to the throne. It's important to note that, while the Republic didn't appeal to DENDUP, word of JEDI involvement meant something to the King. Steela may have brushed off LUX because she was stressed but she definitely liked the interest. STEELA makes a tough command decision to potentially sacrifice Saw in favor of Dendup. It's the kind of choice a Jedi would make. ENERGY GUILLOTINE! KALANI outmaneuvers the rebels' rescue of Dendup but TANDIN comes through in the clutch! The DEATH of DONO! AHSOKA is forced to intercede to save the General's bacon but tips the Republic's hand by exposing herself. Ahsoka can't help but BLUSH when Lux says something sweet. Lol.

"Rash has to be a complete idiot or a complete paranoiac to blame Dendup" - Agreed. "DOOKU is the worst boss: he's always pissed and he constantly threatens to replace his subordinates. " - Also agreed. 😅 "ANAKIN perceives her distress and acknowledges her feelings in a way that was never done for him." - That moment was very touching.

Hey, Kaiielle! FRONT RUNNERS: The guerilla training bears fruit and gets the rebels noticed. STEELA is a crack-shot! The INTRODUCTIONS of Kings SANJAY RASH and RAMSIS DENDUP. Separatist puppet Rash is outraged by the insurgency and blames the overthrown Dendup for orchestrating it which he denies. Rash has to be a complete idiot or a complete paranoiac to blame Dendup whose isolation and confinement give him an ironclad alibi. The INTRODUCTION of OKALIN, Rash's Bivall advisor with the slick Fu Manchu moustache. The last BIVALL in the show was Dr. Sionver Boll who was forced to experiment on the Zillo Beast. The species name is derived from the bivalve structure at the back of their heads. The Jedi consultants take off the training wheels and leave Ahsoka behind. The POWER STATION op is a team effort and a huge success that wins hearts and minds. Rash appeals to DOOKU for reinforcements. DOOKU is the worst boss: he's always pissed and he constantly threatens to replace his subordinates. The INTRODUCTION of KALANI, the series' first SUPER TACTICAL DROID! AHSOKA goes through a rapid roller coaster of emotions during the celebratory gathering. When Saw exuberantly hoists Steela, she feels her competition for Lux's affection has been eliminated until Steela rushes over to embrace Bonteri crushing Ahsoka's hopes. ANAKIN perceives her distress and acknowledges her feelings in a way that was never done for him. SAW's difference of opinion about long-term strategy foreshadows his SPLINTER PARTISAN rebellion. The INTRODUCTION of DONO, the female guerilla. STEELA's marksmanship and inclusive strategizing gets her nominated cell leader by Dono and elected by popular acclaim much to SAW'S CHAGRIN. The revelation that Steela is Saw's SISTER! AHSOKA had assumed the rivalry between Saw and Lux was partly over Steela's affections but the familial connection reveals it's mostly a CLASS ISSUE between two Alpha dogs. Jedi taboo prohibits her from acting on her feelings so she's helpless to prevent the growing attraction between Steela and Lux. LUX seemed to not know the Gerreras were siblings when he tensed up seeing Saw lift Steela off the ground joyously. How Lux couldn't have known they were related is beyond me since they're physically very similar and since he had been embedded in their cell for some time. It's an unnecessary complication meant to throw the viewer but it would have been more interesting if Saw had continued to show interest in Ahsoka to shore up the romantic quadrangle.

The ironies in the council session, yes. So interesting!

kaiielle

Hey, Kaiielle! A WAR ON TWO FRONTS: ONDERON is a world introduced to Star Wars through Dark Horse Comics LEGENDS as a "Dinotopia"-type civilization of walled cities like IZIZ established in 5000 BBY with a Mesozoic Era environment and bestiary which were domesticated by the human colonizers. Two major IRONIES in that Jedi Council session: -- The Council disapproves of guerilla warfare as TERRORISM when that is how the Empire will classify the Rebellion to restore the Republic the Jedi serve. -- ANAKIN ADVOCATES training the insurgents which plant the seeds for the Rebellion he will one day seek to suppress. The RETURN of LUX BONTERI last seen in "A Friend in Need" (Season 4, Episode 14). Onderon is his homeworld and his mother, MINA, represented Onderon in both the Republic and Separatist Senates. The INTRODUCTION of green-eyed STEELA. The INTRODUCTION of SAW GERRERA, the first animated "Clone Wars" character to make the transition to live-action in the Star Wars universe! FOREST WHITAKER portrays Saw in every iteration throughout the saga whether animated, video game avatar or live-action except his youngest self who is voiced by ANDREW KISHINO instead. Lots of JEALOUSLY EXCHANGED GLANCES in this episode as a ROMANTIC QUADRANGLE develops! Saw hits on Ahsoka, Lux has eyes for Ahsoka and Steela, and both Steela and Ahsoka are keen on Lux! ANAKIN notices Ahsoka's interest in Lux and EMPATHIZES with her confusion. The leadership trio each have a strong attribute to contribute to their resistance cell in that SAW is a FEARLESS ATTACKER, LUX is a SUBTLE STEALTH FIGHTER and STEELA is a SHARPSHOOTER.

*dances* So excited!

kaiielle

A fun arc, it definitely got better as it progressed as you stated. Good to see a young Saw too. Loved the 4 eyed dragon creatures they were riding. I see you just dropped D-Squad which means it’s on from here on out. Some of my favorite content coming up! Can’t wait! Thanks again Kaiielle!

Absher

Yeah, Hondo is excellent. I love that he keeps showing up too! Yep, really enjoying how the arc's get better and better. Can't believe we are close to wrapping it up and moving onto something else!

kaiielle

Hondo is a great character in that he's totally neutral, he just wants money. We get so much black and white in star wars it's nice to see some grey in there. The arc is fun, shows that the republic isn't just going around fighting everyone everywhere, they do have limits to how they handle certain planets like Mandalore as well. That also lends itself to Saw who is a pretty important character obviously from Rogue One. I wouldn't say it's bad, and is fine, but we're in the meat of the show now so there's not much "bad" anymore. Maybe one more arc in this season is a bit divisive but it's all still average and above. As with most seasons, it gets better in the last half of the season

Rex is my current favourite, but there's still so many episodes to go throuh so I was just mentioning that. I don't want to commit to a favourite clone until the show is completely finished. As for Andor, I said in my last Trail Thoughts newsletter: "I had intended to share my reactions to Andor as soon as the show started, but I'm re-evaluating what I'm doing and I think that I will just stick to The Clone Wars and House of the Dragon this month. I will watch and record the Andor episodes, but they won't be released until The Clone Wars is over and we've closed that chapter. In October, we'll have HotD and Andor going side-by-side and then when HotD is over, I'll start watching The Bad Batch." This is still the plan!

kaiielle

I felt like Kalani kinda resembled the old monkey droids a bit so cool to know he's like a revamped version of them!

kaiielle

All great moments!

kaiielle

Pretty good arc to start off the season! Pretty slow at the start I must say, but it definitely picked up as it went on, Hondo appearing made is so much better 😆 also the fact Obi Wan said ‘our padawan’ when talking about Ahsoka gives me LIFE, so wholesome.

Part 3- Question. Are you going to be watching Andor in 2 weeks? You’ve probably said it somewhere in a post, I couldn’t find it. Otherwise all I have to say is that I LOVE THIS SHOW! I am So excited for you to watch Rebels, Badbatch, and the other shows too, but mostly Rebels and Bad Batch for some reason. Great Reactions Kaiielle! Oh and you said that Rex might end up being your favorite Clone after all of Clone Wars, Is Cody your current Favorite?

Justin

Part 2- I love the Battle Droids they are just so goofy. But like the Commando “Ninja” Droids here and in many other places I JUST ADORE! They are sooo COOL! And the Droid General Kallani! Love Him so much! He is the first example of the newer smarter Tactical Droid. The old ones I think you sometimes called “Monkey Droids”. The new Super Tactical Droid with the 3 Eyes and AWESOME VOICE!!! Love it! Those Gunships are from Revenge of the Sith, they are also Droids. Kinda goofy that the Separatists have Droid Soldiers, Droid Fighters, Droid Generals, but non Droid Tanks. There are some, but they never use them😅. And then they get hijacked by Saw and Lux.

Justin

Part 1- I LOVE THIS ARC!!! Seeing Lux is always nice, and the FACT THAT SAW becomes a well known character after this with him being in Rogue One is just Awesome! When Rogue One was being made they were making an extremist Rebel leader character, and then someone went wait Saw from Clone Wars fits the bill perfectly, wouldn’t that be cool instead of making a new character. I love how we see Anakin pickup on Ahsoka’s feelings towards Lux! Also quite interesting that even Obi Wan is just saying not to protecting the Rebels, he really was taking on the Strategist Role with no wiggle room. Hondo is great, just an absolute joy!
