The Clone Wars: The Disappeared Duology [117-118/134] ✦ Watchalong Reaction & Review

I won't lie... I'm very glad this arc was only two episodes. 😂 I feel like this is the last "funny/silly" arc that we have in this show. The Disappeared Duology consists of the following episodes:

I'd love to know your thoughts about this one! Please enjoy! [Direct link here.]

It's okay! I explain in my pinned post about the whole DM thing. I appreciate you watching and hope you've been enjoying my journey through The Clone Wars. It's a show that I really want to re-watch soon-ish... just finding the time is hard LOL. Thanks so much.

Ok thank you for the explanation. And sorry about messaging in the wrong message box. I simply didn't know. I have to say you are my favorite SW reactor by far :) Keep up the good work!

I saw your DM, but I don't answer DMs unless it's about payment/Patreon/website issues. If you are watching the reviews in these videos and not just the reaction parts, I do expand on my thoughts there, sometimes a lot depending on what happens in the episode/arc. I am pretty sure I talked about Mace Windu quite a bit at the end of Season 5 because his actions in that final arc really pissed me off (he wasn't the only Jedi I was upset with, but I was most upset with him). During my first watch of Revenge of the Sith, I was sad when he died, but The Clone Wars changed my opinion of Anakin drastically, therefore changing my opinion about Windu, especially after some of the things he does in this show. He's not a character I am fond of anymore, personally. He's still an interesting character and written well, I just don't like him. I don't blame anyone who is "on Windu's side", like I get it. Lots of people think Anakin is whiney and a child and incapable, but I don't see Anakin that way at all and never will.

Yes i immediately pick some temple of doom vibes there.

Great points! Haven't seen the Indiana Jones films so didn't make those connections. They're on my list to get into one day.

I agree it is a bit silly and a tiny bit out of place, but The Clone Wars, as great as it is has always had some sillier and less serious episodes. I just want to point out a couple of things: I feel like this has a lot of not so subtle nods to the Indiana Jones movies (which of course were also created by George Lucas and are also quite silly in their own way): the whole lava temple and the cult sacrificing to an ancient god, and then the uniforms the cultist wear are somewhat nazi-like... But on the other hand, a funny thought which has just occured to me: in the second episode, the whole chase section looks a lot like a stereotypical escort mission from a gamer's perspective, I just can see myself playing as Mace Windu trying to save the very clumsy NPC from all kinds of situations.

So good! 🤣

Jar Jar listening to Mace list off what he sees in the force and being like “Yeah Meesa see that too" Is by far one of the best Jar Jar lines ever.

Jam

Yep! Will be getting into most of it later!

kaiielle

I might enjoy it more on a rewatch. At this point in the series my brain was prepared for emotional and heavy arc's so having this appear just felt very off. 🤣

Ok this ARC has a LOT of great Force Mythos building, we get it spelled out to use in simple terms that Jedi and Sith can naturally WIELD the force, while Nightmares have to manipulate it. I also quite like the Bordotans they are a very interesting group. Like we know that other groups/species are strong with the force, not just Jedi and Sith, but actually getting to see Bordotans, and Nightsisters/Nightbrothers is really neat. And I actually enjoy this ARC a little, like YES it is just ok, but it is super interesting and pretty fun to watch once every few years😅. I’m excited for the remainder of the show though!

Justin

That's a very interesting theory, especially when we know how he *actually* has a purple lightsaber. 😂

I've been sent information on the Son of Dathomir arc (and two others) by Alex. Unfortunately, I don't have the time to dive into it in the proper chronological order as I leave this Sunday. But I will be visiting it all when I get back from vacation and posting it here on Patreon for you all.

kaiielle

This arc made more sense if you think of it as a preamble to the Son of Dathomir arc. Since they did not produce the episodes either in the Lost Missions ( season 6 ) or the Revival ( season 7 ) it kinda stick like a sore thumb. I could elaborate more but i don't know how much you are ok we talk about it.

We all know why Mace "Window" Windu has a puple light saber. But if I remember correctly, I heard something many years ago explaining the color by Windu having extensive knowledge of the dark side of the force. So if I should theorycraft a bit on my own... Given this knowledge I would assume he needs to be a lot more mindful of his feelings, thus leaving him to be a rather cold individual.

Rune

Haha, I had completely forgotten about this arc... I guess that explains how much I liked it 😏

Rune

I definitely prefer the droid arc over this one. 😂 But you know my love of the droids by now! And thank you! Glad that it makes them a little bit more fun. Like I said, I would have preferred this arc placed a lot earlier. Mother Talzin and the Nightsisters showed up in Season 3, so if this could have been squeezed into that season too, or even early Season 4, I would have been more fine with that!

kaiielle

This arc is so confusing to me in so many ways, not only because of the bizarre pairing, but also because of its place in the tail end of the second to last season, like, huh ?? This definitely wasn’t the worst arc of the series, I personally think the droid arc was far worse. But it’s still not good, I understand this season was cut short but my point still stands. I must say though, Windu being borderline clowned for most of this arc was nice, I’ve never liked him lol. I’m still not over how he treated Ahsoka, the absolute DISRESPECT Great reaction KL! You make these painful arcs so much more bearable (:
