The Clone Wars SERIES FINALE: Siege of Mandalore [131-134/134] ✦ Watchalong Reaction & Review

It is Friday, the best day! And what better way to cap off the week then to provide the SERIES FINALE of The Clone Wars to you all? Holy moly, this was a ride and a half. Why wasn't THIS The Clone Wars Theatrical Release though? 😂 [Direct link here.]

This video features some HEAVY comments edited in during my episode review sections, because there was some time in between when I watched these episodes and when I edited this video and I realized there were a few things I didn't even talk about. Sometimes when you've let something sink in for a bit, you end up thinking about more things. This happened to me for this arc, so there are a few moments where you'll have to pause the video to read the extra information I've included.

The Siege of Mandalore arc consists of the following episodes:

I expect y'all to be writing some MEGA long comments about this arc below. Let's really discuss this one! Patreon does have a character limit for comments (not sure what it is) so avoid including information that you've already stated before in previous comments on other arcs.

So many things, so many impactful moments, so many emotions, so many feelings! I'll certainly be thinking about this arc for a very long time. At the time of scheduling this post, I can easily tear up a bit when I think back on certain scenes.

I can't believe The Clone Wars adventure has come to an end. I will be visiting some of the unpublished stuff when I return from vacation so stay tuned for videos covering that. I'm not sure I'll be able to dive in right away the week I get back, but I'll try my best to have one or two videos out in October.

Thank you all for joining me with this show. This started way back on April 1st! Just over six months of reaction videos and time spent with the clones and our favourite characters. I'm so excited to continue the Star Wars TV journey and hope that many of you choose to stick around too. I'll be jumping into The Bad Batch right away!

May the Force be with you! ⚔

The Clone Wars SERIES FINALE: Siege of Mandalore [131-134/134] ✦ Watchalong Reaction & Review

I like your thoughts about Maul! And thank you so much for being here and going through The Clone Wars with me. I really hope that you enjoyed it. 😊

kaiielle

This never fails to make me cry. Every time I'm sobbing. A pondering on Maul, now that we've made it to him appearing in Rebels, he might be a "villain" but I think he ultimately is looking to belong somewhere-- even if the means of that were through darkness and playing the Sith game. He attached himself to Savage so much that I think that influenced his current Rebel's lightsaber (it has the spiky end part like Savage's lightsaber had). And Savage dying definitely was a hit to him emotionally. He always is trying to recruit some sort of "family" through his "apprentices" which I think is how he expresses his tribal nature (since his people are tribal) but having been removed from the Night Brothers at such a young age the ONLY way he knows how to gain belonging is through the accumulation of power, disciples, and other sith means. It's relatively tragic. This arc was the reason I subscribed when I subscribed, and it's nice to come back to it after now having watched the rest of the Clone Wars with you. <3

Keeley Thurman

Thanks Ike! Glad you enjoyed this. If you are watching in the "kaiielle" order, I watched Obi-Wan Kenobi when it released in May and June, back when I was only watching The Clone Wars, whereas Rebels I only just started! But watch in whatever order you like. 😊

kaiielle

I’m playing “New Guy Catch-Up Ball” and watching all of your reactions, particularly SW (everything else will get into the queue later :) I was a wreck watching this also. No tears, but I was standing up! I saw the Clone Wars movie in theaters and hated it! “Who is this little girl mixed in with my Jedi heroes? What are they thinking!” Then… Well before this weekly show ended, Ahsoka had surpassed everyone else in being my favorite SW character. I will agree with Mr. Alvarez [above from Oct] that Maul likely had zero honorable intentions. He wanted Kenobi & Skywalker only to kill them both and “deprive Sidious of his prize” - not out of spite, not to save the galaxy, but to climb the Sith ladder. Galactic musical chairs - there will be only two seats left - and he wants the one next to Sidious when the music stops. Rebels is next on the list for me. Then Kenobi? (I am trying to watch your reactions in the Kaiielle Order) 😁

Ike

It's so emotional and I am still thinking about it all these months later.

kaiielle

I was prety much a wreck after watching this the first time. It doesn't get any easier... like when Ahsoka removed Rex's helmet I just knew it was game over. You win, Filoni... ;) This last arc was for tme some of the best tv I've ever seen, never mind Star Wars. As a Star Wars fan, it seem to make the show just that bit more impressive.

Mark Bukumunhe

Indeed! Thanks for watching!

kaiielle

I got emotional all over again. Amazing finale.

Mayra Geek

Both are excellent!

kaiielle

Excited for it all!

kaiielle

Her outfit in this arc is really sharp, and I think it is my favourite out of all of them (so far). That final scene with her and Anakin was wonderful and all of the Maul stuff was fantastic too. So good. The earlier seasons would definitely make it hard to stick around, but knowing that it was "worth it" after seeing so many people say it made me keep watching, not to mention all of your comments here. Was well worth it. Agree that Ahsoka was a great last thing by George. Definitely a top character for me and I think my favourite Jedi now, with Anakin *right* below in second. Thank you for being here and enjoying the reactions! I will definitely save Season 3 of The Mandalorian until the other seasons and BBF are done. I think I've read that S3 takes place *after* it all, so I already know that and am aware of it. If S3 releases in February like they're saying, then it's likely that I won't be finished watching all of that beforehand. But I'll just continue plugging away like I have been. And it'll give some space for you all to watch it on your own and then re-watch with me!

kaiielle

Ahsoka's growth and development from start to finish was such a treat to experience. I agree that I think she is the most true Jedi of them all. My heart breaks for what she went through and I can't wait to see her again in some of the other shows, and especially her own show that comes out in 2023. And thank you so much!

kaiielle

Rebels will be happening after The Bad Batch! I am watching the established shows in the timeline order, aside from Andor of course since it's brand new. I did notice the creature, but wasn't sure what it was. I figured it was something meaningful, thank you for explaining!

kaiielle

Mood.

kaiielle

I'm glad you had a good time! I loved having you all around here for it.

kaiielle

Thank you for being here! It was a long and amazing journey.

kaiielle

I'll be the same every time I re-watch it. The emotions won't hurt any less than it did the first time LOL.

kaiielle

Agree! A very powerful arc.

kaiielle

Thank you. 💛

kaiielle

I bet this arc was a great way to pass the time when the pandemic first started and everyone was staying in!

kaiielle

Also Dave Filoni for sure made the animation better for the final arc. and changed the whole vibe of how the show works. the final episodes felt like a movie if you watch them all in a row. felt just like another prequel movie

Liam

imo this is the best arc in the whole show. It is incredible. Loved how it overlapped with revenge of the sith. This arc is one of my favorite pieces of star wars media. the last episode broke me. Glad you enjoyed it!

Liam

I enjoyed this arc very much. My second favorite behind the Yoda arc. Growing up on the original trilogy, the Yoda arc helped explain the Force ghost thing a lot better than any of the movies and seeing what Master Yoda went through to acheive this was fantastic.

Dan Hughes

I'll DM you when I get home next week!

kaiielle

Upgraded to Grand Insider so I could get a discount on merch and lend a little more support to the channel. Let me know how I get the 20% off coupon. No rush, hope you’re enjoying the vacation

Absher

I saw Dryden Voss for the first time this watch through. That was a cool easter egg

Absher

What a ride, this is arc conclude the show on another level for sure. It is like a movie. I am excited for you to dive into the Bad Batch and more shows, even more so because the clone wars is the fondations of a lot what your are going to watch next and it gives everything else so much more meaning.

Guiguioh

So yeah, this is simply beautiful storytelling, masterfully done, and it fills you with suspense, dread, excitement, and heartbreak all the way through. And Rex was not in Revenge of the Sith, you are correct, Rex and Ahsoka both were made for Clone Wars. Ahsoka is my favorite Star Wars Character, sometimes I think it’s Anakin, but it’s not, it’s Ahsoka. Rex is my favorite Clone, hands down. The fact that Fives was essential to Both Ahsoka and Rex’s survival is perfect I think. Fives couldn’t stop what was to come, but he got those 2 OUT! There are so many Easter eggs and fun facts with this one that I can’t mention them all. One is that the Clone named “Ridge” only ever is mentioned in the second to last episode hear, and the Clone Wars movie, he has been with us since before Jesse, Fives, everyone but Rex, and yet he was just in the background throughout the entire show as one of the unidentifiable Clones. But Ridge was there, from Star to Finish. The fight between Ahsoka and Maul was actually Mo-cab assisted with Ray Park himself, the only fight in the show to have real life Moves traced. Dryden Voss the Leader of Crimson Dawn from Solo was in the Hologram with the Syndicate leaders in episode 10. And that is actually most of what I can say regarding Easter eggs that you could know without spoilers for Bad Batch, Rebels, etc.

Justin

Can we talk about how good Ahsoka looks in this arc and what a freaking bad ass she is! They must have tripled the budget for these 4 episodes. You can see the extra time and care they took in each scene. Music, editing, writing, acting all amazing! Love how she and Bo-Katan have become friends and their touching goodbye. Something I payed really close attention this time was Ani and Ahsoka’s last scene together, got choked up by that knowing that was the last time they’d see each other. Definitely improved how I viewed Maul as well. He’s much smarter than anyone gave him credit for and we know from Solo that he goes on to run Crimson Dawn. I can’t watch this arc without tearing up multiple times. When you lost it during order 66, so did I. So many reactors go through Star Wars and never watch CW and I kind of understand that, it is a huge time investment. I honestly thought maybe you went in a little skeptical as I myself did the first time. I’ll be honest, I didn’t like CW at first. I think I watched the first season a few times because I kept quitting. I’ve come to really love this show, at least 60% of it at least haha! Some arcs aren’t great and I think boring, but others make CW an essential part of understanding SW as a whole. Introducing Ahsoka into the universe was George’s last great gift to us. A top 3 character in all of SW. The final scene - Definitely takes place years after. They have now switched from Clone Troopers to Storm Troopers. I’m with you thinking that was Anakin’s body language, not Vader’s. I like your insight on Rex vs Cody and how they each handled order 66. Love your idea about cutting CW and ROTS together into one video! Can’t wait to see that. Thank you so much for sharing this series with us. It was quite a ride! You even made the not so great episodes fun to watch. You gave me a different perspective at times and I really enjoyed that. Love that you have this empathy for the Clones and you really enjoyed getting to know their unique personalities. Love that I can tell that you really enjoy this franchise and genuinely want to continue the journey. I’m not a huge Rebels fan but there are episodes in there that are as good as anything. Bad Batch is pretty cool though and it’s only one season so far, can’t wait to see how it ties in the time between CW and Solo. I hope you get through Mando and BOB before season 3 of Mando starts. I’d love to watch that with you. I’m way too excited for Ahsoka next year. Good time to be a SW fan. Hope you had a great vacation, the pictures looked incredible and I live in CO (It’s beautiful here) haha! P.S. Check your suggested gift box on throne

Absher

Would have been amazing!

kaiielle

Actually, this arc was supposed to receive special theatrical screenings, with appearances from some cast and crew members, but because these four episodes were released in April and May of 2020, obviously those plans were shut down. Imagine seeing this in a theatrical experience though!

Matt Peralta

Ah yeah. The moment you come to realize that this arc isn't leading up to, but runs parallel with Revenge of the Sith, is the moment you know where things are going. And the final episode being dedicated to fighting against the clones that have been on "our" side since the very beginning is so emotionally stressful. Ahsoka. The slightly annoying (at least to me), little teenager padawan grew up. She may not consider herself to be a Jedi, yet she may actually just be the most true Jedi of them all by the time order 66 was given. Un-burdened by the politics that the Jedi council had gotten themselves into, after they moved the temple to Corusant long, long ago. It has been such a pleasure to follow your journey through this series from the very beginning. I had never thought I'd get so hooked by an animated series when I watched it for the first time, and it was such a pleasure to see you having similar experiences on your journey. Really looking forward to follow you through the coming shows that are ahead as well.

While we may not like the fact The Clone Wars was canceled. It wasn't up to Disney. Lucasfilm's contract with Warner Bros gave them exclusive rights to air Star Wars: The Clone Wars. If Disney continued to produce episodes of Star Wars: The Clone Wars, they could not release them on Disney networks, only Warner Bros (Cartoon Network). Why would a company pay to animate and air a television show for a competing network? Disney didn't even have the rights to broadcast Star Wars movies on TV until 2016, it's likely Netflix got the rights for Clone Wars through Turner directly, and then the films to be streamed from Disney.

Khan Battle

I can't reply to you all individually yet, BUT I see these and thank you! ❤️

kaiielle

Don't worry, I've talked about the order of the show viewing many times. Doing it in timeline order!

kaiielle

I really hope you mix in Rebels before you watch the Mandalorian show. It's crucial for the story timeline and for other characters that will be seen or mentioned in future shows.

Kris Beal

I hope to see you cover Star Wars Rebels soon, it is not as good as The Clone Wars cinematically, but I think it is still essential I would recommend watching Rebels before the bad batch as it was released in that order and there are spoilers/ easter eggs in the bad batch that mean more make more sense if you have seen rebels. I would definitely watch rebels before Mandolorian and I can't wait to see you watch that. Did you notice Morai (Ahsoka's Convor spirit animal 'owl') circling above Vader?

Joshua Hiett

So... it was so nice to watching The Clone Wars with you, Kaielle (I believe it is the third time for me of watching the whole show). I really enjoyed the experience and I want to thank you for that. And, well, what can I say about this arc... It was incredible and incredibly emotional, I cried a lot too, every time. Let me share a few thoughts: I think we can all agree that Disney cancelling the show halfway of season 6 was an incredibly stupid idea, such a great show deserves some kind of closure. Disney finally realised this and they got Filoni to do season 7 years after. And, oh, boy, did he deliver. I believe, while the other arcs in season 7 are a step-up in animation quality over the previous seasons, they clearly reserved most of the budget for this arc, and it shows, in everything, from the quality of the animation, the music, everything is impossibly high quality. On the animation side, there are so many stand-out moments, but I just love the epicness of Ahsoka's fighting descent into Mandalore, I could watch that sequence a million times and sttill be amazed. Also on the animation... have you noticed that the fighting scenes between Maul and Ahsoka are... more grounded and realistic than what we've seen so far on the show? That's because they actually did motion capture of the fight choreography and they brought back Ray Park to do the fight as Maul again! On more of story or plot points, first let's talk about Ahsoka and Rex. While The Clone Wars had arcs focusing on many characters, the main characters of the show are clearly Anakin, Obi-Wan, Ahsoka and the clones as a collective, Rex being the clone we spend more time with in the whole show. Anakin and Obi-Wan, we already have the continuation of their journey in the movies, so I think it was the right thing to do to focus this final arc on Ahsoka and Rex, as they were created for this show and they are great characters, they deserve the spotlight in this triumphant and emotional finale of The Clone Wars. And, by the way, there's a lesson in storytelling in this whole show with Maul: if you are going to bring back a character from the death, you'd better do something extremely interesting with him, just like they did with Maul (and the opposite of what they did with Palpatine in Rise of Skywalker. in my opinion). I agree, Maul is quite the genius to have pieced so much together, unfortunately, the Sith philosophy is very strongly engrained in him and I do think he would have tried to replace Palpatine if he succeded in killing him: maybe not as Emperor, but as the main Sith ruling the Galaxy from the shadows yes. Being a Sith is mostly about power, and Maul clearly craves power. I also love how Yoda still cares about Ahsoka and wishes things would have been different ("Not as a Jedi?", and then stays to ask if she has a message for Anakin). It is kind of heart breaking that Anakin and Ahsoka didn't have the time to talk more, I think they both clearly needed more time to talk things through, to explain to each other how they feel and what's been going on with their life since they last seen each other. I am not sure, but I want to believe that that would have helped Anakin, and who knows, maybe saved him from becoming Darth Vader (probably not). But I think Yoda very intentionaly assigned Ahsoka to be Anakin's padawan, she was clearly a positive influence for him... and if she was with him in Revange of the Sith, who knows how things might have gone... I am sure there are many more thoughts about this arc I could share, but for now, I'll leave it at that.

This destroyed me when it first released

BratPfanneTV

Being able to watch the series again along side you, someone who hasn't seen it, was amazing! To go through some of the emotions with you, the ups and downs. Im so happy you enjoyed the ride and can't for what the future has in store!

Israel

This arc is perfect. Genuinely perfect. A piece of the puzzle we didn’t know we needed. The music, LACK of music in certain scenes, voice acting, animation, script, you name it, perfect. I remember watching this for the first time and couldn’t speak for the following half an hour because I was just in pure shock, that’s the only time a piece of media has left me speechless. I love this show so god damn much. And I’m so glad you loved it too, KL. Thank you, for letting me revisit that feeling, I’m truly grateful. Bad Batch, here we come!

Sean H

I've watched this arc probably close to 10 times and it never gets less emotional. Always love that moment when people realize this is happening along side Episode 3. This could definitely be a movie and is sort of treated that way, but it was such a great end to the show and by far the most exciting part of watching people go through the clone wars. There's obviously great arcs and episodes but like you said, this just stands on its own and is really the peak of the show as well as animation. They really ended the show with a bang and makes you wanting more.

Andrew Sitek

What a way to end the journey

Khan Battle

A journey well worth watching. This is why I became a patreon. I look forward to more Star Wars content.

Yoshi1990

Wow. The end of this journey. I remember these airing at the beginning of the Pandemic and just being overjoyed by the content.

Jam

And the moment we’ve all been waiting for… damn, I have to go to work! This will be a treat when I get home. Gonna grab the tissues for this one.

Absher

I just might have to leave work early today, just to get home and watch this reaction 😎 Can’t wait
