Pet Peeve triggered: it's not latex (and brands should know that)!

If you're following me for a while now and read some of my answers to comments, you'll probably have seen me saying "it's not latex!". I just hate it when people mistake PVC or wetlook fabric for latex. And even more, when brands do this - they should know better! It's their job to know what their products are made of!

For those who are not aware:
PVC = PU coated fabric. Wear it like fabric, get into it fast, hand wash, and that's it.
Latex = Rubber. Natural kauchuk. Needs special care. Can't simply wear it without silicone oil or talcum, it's work to get into and out off. Not fabric.
Two completely different materials that can't really be compared! Two completely different target customer groups.

So latex is way more hassle to handle and wear - why should brands willingly promote their producs as latex? Because it's a trend material at the moment, Kardashians wear it, and they hope they rank better in SEO because people google latex? I think that's one of the main reasons.

Nevertheless, we know what happens when people order real latex products at fast fashion stores ( > https://youtu.be/f4ZgAZxTYtc?si=s_ePzeOREwfWN5Et ) and are at loss when indeed real latex arrives. 😂 Yes, it's better this way if people get non-latex products and don't have any problems wearing and handling it. But still, as fashion brand, why willingliy misslabel their products? To me, it leaves the impression of an uninformed team that doesn't know what they're selling. And if it's intentional, then they're still missleading their customers in thinking a material is something it really isn't. See video above for what happens when these people get in touch with real latex at some point. And if brands teach wrong material science, no wonder that people learn it wrong, too.

Freddy says in the header text: "latex pants [...] newest innovation from Freddy [...] eco friendly faux leather with a shiny wet-look-finish". WTF? 😂 They mixed everything together. PVC is not a faux leather either 😂 and definitely not an innovation. 😂 Hello SEO-optimised text that don't make sense. 🙈 It just makes me so mad. 🙈

On the other hand.... what do you think about the pants itself?
I own one Freddy Pants (wishlist gift in normal stretchy fabric) and it's ok. Should I try this one?

I share this pet pev... Fast fashion brands trying to use latex following to sell their imitation crap. 🤬

“It ripped like a popped balloon” 🎈 I remember when that video was fresh off the grill. Cutest one. My dad use to know Robert Kardashian (they were close friends too) back when his girls were kids, they did business back then - long before the Simpson story, lol. 😂

Hehe, gute Argumente.

For that price I’d say wait for a sale to save yourself some money!
